Mark Twain quote, “When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years.”

Kaylee, your nervousness around the chain saw is justified. Just 10 days ago my husband had a mishap while cutting wood, almost lost his arm. Complacency while working can be dangerous.

It’s so much fun watching you problem solve. Vermont is a truly beautiful state. Your dad is a hoot, Jordan. Love the hair cut!

Chainsaw tip: I worked as an arborist for a few years and one big tip is when cutting eith the chainsaw, don't use the tip or even middle of the blade. Try to use the dogs (the teeth at the base). Jam the bottom dog in and use it as a lever to cut your rounds. Reset when the angle is close to the ground. This will prevent the blade from kicking back at you if it binds or hits something hard.

Love the family. Dad just be so proud of his son as he now teaches him🎉. Sadie is always a princess. Mom and Dad are working the muddie mess but Sadie is wearing her dress ready to perform. Or she is learning about power tools. Just love seeing how Sadie is truly learning in life being around family & friends! Blessings❤

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know how much I’m enjoying all of your content! It’s unbelievable just how much Sadie has grown in the past few videos-she’s an absolute credit to you both and is such an amazing little girl who seems totally unfazed by all the travelling she does 😊

You should consider pouring a concrete pad for the airstream to park on. If you pour the pad extra large, you can have an outside patio too. Just a thought 😊

Tip for stacking wood: On the ends put two similar-sized logs parallel to the stack then two more on top of those going the opposite direction to "lock" the ends of the stack in and keep them from rolling. I hope this is clear? :( If I could send a pic it would be clearer. ;) Love you guys!!

2:46 Hey guys just wanted to let you know don’t double stack your firewood like this…. You will get mice and rats making a home in between them. Love your vids! ❤from PA

One trick I learned running a chain saw is allow the “chain” to do the work. Dont move the chain saw back and forth hold the chain saw body let the chain cut. I used to do like you did thinking it as a “knife” but my Dad taught me the blade does the sawing 😊When I got the hang of it then I was a chain saw monster😊😊😊

The older Sadie gets and her little personality develops, the more she resembles Jordan as a little girl but with Kaylee’s personality. She’s adorable! 😂❤ Great job on the culvert guys, and it was nice seeing Jordan’s dad! 😊

Your progress in Vermont is going great! Please, please, get all that firewood off the ground. And next spring when you’re back here, and you’re burning that lovely wood, watch out for Brown Recluse Spiders. They love living in wood piles. And their venom is no joke!

Some French drains/tile would be really helpful to bring the water table down. The diameter could be smaller than the culvert and would be more effective. Make sure with that muck to use plenty of rock and permeable geotextile fabric. It would still need to be deep enough to make a difference. A sump pump could help clear some of the water making it easier to work in the trench depending on how fast it’s coming in.

The culvert will help a bunch. However, if it's not sufficiently buried, it will be crushed by heavy equipment driven over it. Even just regular vehicles. Esp since you're using plastic. But if you do this site correctly and build the level of the road and trailer pad higher than the surrounding land, you can mitigate the water runoff problem and build soil/rock/gravel above your culvert. Water has tremendous erosion power so if you're not there to address it immediately, it will wash away all the work you completed. Build a good base with excellent drainage and control the runoff so your homestead doesn’t flood or turn into a muddy mess. I know you're on a tight time-line but the base is highest priority cuz if you can't get into or out of your property it's all for naught

Loved seeing Jordan's Dad, Dougie Fresh is such a nice nick name. Jordan and Kaylee are not scared of big jobs and loved how it is turning out. Sadie is definitely a dancer she is so cute and amazing like her parents. So until the next one be safe and prosper.

The culvert will freeze in the winter and crack. The frost/freeze line for Northern Vermont is 3 or 4 feet deep in some areas. I forsee a whole lot of mud and repeat work in your future if you don't consult with locals who have done this work before. I lived in both southern and northern Vt and found a bigger difference than I expected when it comes to winter weather and how it effects the land.
