#shorts Can you hear the difference between a beginner vs. a professional Cellist Scales on the Cello? Not that I am playing the scales perfectly, but thought that the tips could be helpful to make your scales sound better.

I play violin and want to also learn cello.
I think it's beautiful.
I hope I can do both.

I mean, a 3 Octave scale doesn’t have to be a abnormal tempo.

As a cellist the first one made me cry

Professionals don’t always play scales fast. If you are focusing on tuning high notes then play scales as slowly as you need to get the notes in tune.

Them facial expressions are very relatable in the first half as a brand new cellist who knows what notes are supposed to sound like, but dear lord do they NOT sound that way when I play.

*heavy beginner sighs* And so the journey begins...

Sometimes a scale played slowly can sound as beautiful as one played fast if not more

as a Cellist that is still learning in school with a professional orchestra teacher who teaches varsity and non-varsity, this is actually very irritating to watch. The beginners in my school that just started cello DOES NOT play like that. I understand some plays like that but, that's okay they're still learning PLUS. Professional orchestra does NOT care if you play TOO FAST nor TOO SLOW. as long as you're in tune AND is fixing your tune and muscle memory you CAN play the cello or whatever string instruments in no time. Just practice and keep trying your best. DO NOT. i mean DO NOT feel like you need to push yourself to be like a PERFECT player. Every professional started as a beginner and soon learned how to be like the professional they are now. SO DO NOT. MAKE ASSUMPTIONS on BEGINNERS. yes i understand some play better than others. But the most important thing is to PRACTICE AND TRY YOUR BEST. this video honestly makes me really mad as a cellist myself WHO IS HELPING Beginner CELLIST. so please, please be mindful for peoples skills and weakness.

Someone in my very beginning section in orchestra almost took their fingers off the fingerboard when they weren't in use, basically their hand was looking like 👌. Didn't help that we had a crappy teacher with anger issues, she quit the next year.
(Luckily we've gotten a better teacher)

practicing fast isnt the best always, you should both practice quick scales and slow scales so you can focus on your bowing

I have a question ⁉️ How do you know where to place your fingers when playing. Bc i have a ukulele and the frets help me.

I have been playing cello for over 7 years. I started in fifth grade and now working my way into symphony Orchestra. Last year we placed second in final

This vid was just made to poke fun at beginners and show off the fact that she’s professional in a slightly distasteful manner (not to say that she doesn’t have the right to show that off). But y’all, don’t be ashamed of how you play, the fact that you’re learning and playing is something to be proud of.
