That awkward moment when your toys make 3 movies behind your back..

-Andy

Woody was definitely passed down to Andy. Andy's mom told us that in the 2nd movie. When the chicken man came to the yard sale and tried to take Woody, Andy's mom said, "I'm sorry. It's an old family toy."

The theory of Woody being from Andy's dad is further supported by the fact that Woody is the only toy that Andy initially chooses to take to college. Personally, it would take more than child-like fondness to bring old toys to college with me. However, if it really was one of the few connections he had with his father, then it would be something precious enough to bring, during a point of his life when he would probably be looking for stability and support when being away from home for the first time.

The creators of Toy Story have said this: They never created Andy's father because at the time that the first Toy Story was created, humans were hard to produce. So the fewer they had, the cheaper production would be. Andy's father was not really needed, so therefore he was never created.

However, I HAVE heard of the theory of Andy's mom being Emily, and after watching this video, I really like it. When I first heard the theory, I dismissed it because no evidence was given to corroborate the theory; but now that I've seen the evidence, I really like it. It gives a whole new dimension to the story.

An explanation for 4:23

Perhaps Andy's mom did recognise the Jessie doll. When Andy first sees Jessie at the end of Toy Story 2 he calls her Bazooka Jane.... Yet he calls her Jessie in Toy Story 3.. so someone must've told him her name is Jessie (it obviously couldn't have been the toys). .... Perhaps Andy's mom saw it and told Andy that she used to have one and it was called a Jessie doll. Also it probably didn't really affect her or bring back any strong memories because she is adult now and long grown out of dolls.... and Andy being her son, she would be more than happy to let him have her.

Andy's mom did recognise Jessie!!!
Here's my explanation:
At the end of Toy Story 2, when Andy sees Jessie for the first time in his life, he calls her Bazooka Jane.
At the end of Toy Story 3, when Andy gives Jessie to the little girl, he calls her
That means Andy's mom must have told Andy that her name is not Bazooka Jane, but Jessie!

Emily is Andy's mom, here's why; At the end of TS2, Andy's mom said that she had seen Jesse somewhere before! BAM WHAT!

I like how his mom never questions the toys that just appear in his room.

Yes, Emily is Andy's mom, but I think that when Andy called Jessie "Bazooka Jane, " his mom instantly corrected him.

"No!  She's...Jessie."

"Really?  Are you sure?"

"Positive."

She wouldn't know how Jessie (at least her version) got there, but the memory of that toy would have come back to her, and she'd cry.  But, of course, we wouldn't see THAT scene, but I like to think that it happened.

It would also explain why Andy wanted to keep Woody for college and none of the other toys.

I saw a video explaining that Andy's parents were going through a divorce in the first movie, if you look closely as Andy's mothers hand you will see that she had no wedding ring on it and according to the video Andy was moving to a smaller house without his fathers support.

Emily being Andy's mom does bring things full-circle for Jessie.

+SuperCarlinBrothers in Toy Story 2, when the chicken man tries to steal Woody, Andy's mom says: 'he's not for sale, it's an old family toy'

WAIT A MINUTE! If Jessie was for donation, maybe she didn't go to Al McWhiggin (Chicken Man) hands immediately afterwards? Maybe Boo, from '' Monsters Inc. '', have been the 2nd owner of Jessie!

I don't consider Chicken Man as a owner so the conclusion:
1º owner: Emily
2º owner: . . .Boo!?
3º owner: Andy
4º owner: Bonnie

I think Andy's dad is an astronaut. Think about it. Astronauts explore the final frontier. They are... wait for it... space cowboys (ba dum tsch). Andy has an astronaut as a toy and a cowboy, and neither take a dominant role. Andy also has military men who go and save other toys when they land in bad situations. Who goes and picks up Astronauts when they land back on earth? hmm?

Andy's mom lives in a nice house and is able to support two children. She's usually around, leading me to believe she doesn't have to work much. Andy's dad may still be around, but his job takes him away from his family maybe for long periods of time, and it provides enough to support a wife and two children. Maybe to provide a little more stability, Andy's mom and dad decided not to relocate the whole family and he only visits a few times a year or he can't visit because the trip from orbit is kinda expensive.

Andy's dad is totally an Astronaut... or at least works for a space exploration organization.

Well, the writers of Toy Story did confirm that Andy's mom is going through a divorce. Think about how all the scenes with Andy and his mom feature her spoiling him (birthday party, going to pizza planet). Pretty natural for a mom in that situation to try to keep their kid happy, because divorces are tough.
