I spent many years running an edger. My father had a hardwood floor finishing business. He sanded until about 8 years ago. He just turned 84. He's the strongest man I've ever met.

You need to adjust the hight of the wheels in the back. They are way too high. If properly adjusted, you only slightly have to lift the rear when grinding at the very edge.
Also, use disks with holes. So your dust extraction actually works.

Where do have your edger cutting at? Looks like maybe 2-3:00? And do you ever adjust the angle depending on what grit you’re on?

Recently sanded my floors, the hire stuff is a bit crap! But using 24 grit really helped even though they recommended we just use a lot more 40grits and clog them up

How do get round the downpipes for the radiators? One area that might have to be hand scraped.

Yep in America we use a Clark brand edger looks almost identical to what you have.

Wood finisher here..master of the palm sander..those floors edging was driving me nuts..forword and backwards never side to side..I'd start with 150 grit 220 grit and finish with 320..

When I hire to do my floor I get one of those edgers and a bands type the hire companies I use have always had good equipment .
