Jacques de Molay was the last Grand Master of the Knights Templar, a powerful medieval Christian military order that was founded to protect Christian pilgrims.

Despite their good intentions, the order became a target of greed and envy and in the early 14th century, King Philip IV of France began a campaign to discredit and disband the order. De Molay was arrested, tortured and eventually burnt at the stake.

His tragic end serves as a reminder of the dangers of unchecked power and corruption.
