With spring around the corner, our sleepy bears are slowly getting up! 🌷🐻🐦

Take a look at bear Mark while looking all cosy in his den at BEAR SANCTUARY Arbesbach!

Most of the bears in our sanctuaries and partner projects are becoming active again, but some of them are still snoozing in their warm beds of straw. 💤

📍 Did you know? As our sanctuaries are located in different countries, the period of hibernation varies from mid-October to late March. During autumn bears gain a lot of weight, and they use up this extra body fat to live off while not losing any muscle. This allows the bears to come out of hibernation thinner, but still as strong as they were before winter. ❄️

It just goes to show what his previous life of cruelty and neglect had done to him.
This is how he should always have been had he not been taken from his Mother and abused by his human captor's!
