VEVOR 3’ hand rail kit install

Installation of Home Depot VEVOR 3 foot iron hand rail kit (actual top rail length is 40 inches). Kit in video is $51 plus tax with free shipping. Model number H3602-3. The kit comes with a 12MM SDS masonry bit. Since I only have a regular hammer drill, I used a half inch bit and it worked fine.
Dry fit the position of the install and mark the 8 holes with a sharpie. Drill vertically at 90 degrees. The hole should be a 1/4 inch deeper than your anchor. I used a couple of bricks to help with the positioning.
The kit is a great value and railing is solid. Spray some silicone on the nuts and bolts to prevent rusting. Or you can dab some Vaseline on the fasteners. Otherwise the mounting hardware will rust as they are not stainless steel.

Sorry if I just missed it.... but how far in did you drill into the concrete? Did you drill about the same length as the expansion anchor? Should we drill a little more? Or should we drill a little less and hammer in the anchor? No experience with masonry work and trying not to sound too stupid. Also, would it be okay to use an impact driver to drive down the screws? Or would that be too much power? Great video by the way. I'm just a guy trying to learn.

Thank you so much for the reply. I have a hammer drill (just not with the sds) so i'll be using that to drill the holes. Thank you for the comparison of using a 1/2" masonry bit. And i will definitely drill deeper than the anchor. But would it be okay to use an impact driver for the screw instead of using a ratchet?

Nice work, that will be there until the cows comes home, or until they raise your taxes.

Use painters tape to hold base cover up while working on installing base.
