Focus must be on main language PHP from basic to advance along with Laravel that is where it opens a lot of opportunities

I think there’s an opportunity for Laravel in the current market because we can develop so much faster, so for less costs. There’s plenty of companies who are not aware of this yet, so you might have to enlighten them.
Also, don’t forget.. these are the times to sharpen your skills and get ready for when the economy starts picking up again. You know, when there’s more jobs you can handle and they start throwing money at you to get your attention. What goes down, must come up 😊

I never looked at myself being a "Laravel developer". It's my favorite framework; but.. there's lots to explore. I've been working with other PHP frameworks for years before I even touched Laravel. Meanwhile I also tackled Javascript, TypeScript and various stacks and tools there (Mostly jQuery, then Vue/Angular.. ofc later AlpineJS and played around with ThreeJS); took a dive into WCAG, Accessibility, ... and made it all pretty with CSS (Less, Sass, Bootstrap, Tailwind ...) and I'm working in Linux, with docker containers.. there's a vast ecosystem out there, don't limit yourself.

- I mean; there's not too much developers in any stack/tool; but you need to diversify yourself and make sure you're hitting the correct companies that actually want you to join them. There's not just black/white here.

When it comes to presentable, we developers tend to be more 'listeners' than 'observers' :)

Great topic and I agree that there may have been a decline in the hiring of new Laravel developers, but I also think that people will gradually become more aware of the power and speed of the Laravel development, so the demand for PHP developers with Laravel experience will increase.
Serious and growing companies will take advantage of this and we will also have benefits.
Knowledge of any other technology is always big plus.

"The current job market is tough. A new tech stack to your cv increases your chances of being hired". That is right.

Speaking from an agency experience, there are more junior laravel devs than experienced ones, and as a result, the whole place is populated; making it seem like there are more devs than available jobs.

In my opinion, adding to your tech stack is a good choice but at the same time, capitalizing on your laravel skills is paramount. As it stands, laravel has almost everything compared to other frameworks out there. You'll have repeat clients when they know that you're good at what you do.
It doesn't matter how long it took you to get your first job, but rather, how well you could get a job done with the tool(s) you know.

I hope this helps.

i think in general as a developer your always need to level up your skill and have as much knowledge as possible in your given domain. I started my first job last week at a web dev agency. Theirs focus for larger projects is laravel but i got qssigned a smaller project to get it stable and fixed. And suddenly i dont just need to refactor code from someone who has clearly never seen laravel daily but i also need to figure out .Net and android Development

I think it’s better to learn other backend languages and frameworks instead of jumping towards front end !
Because for example let’s say you have a very good knowledge about backend database server configuration when you change to something else but there won’t be a huge different it’s still backend the way some certain things work will change but backend is backend and most of the ideas will be the same !

I don't think so that there are too many Laravel Developers.

I think Companies and even Laravel Developers are not aware of the potential what Laravel can do at all.

Being an expert in any language or framework will surely highlight you in the market .

No doubt the current market is tough, but personally I was looking for change and have applied at many companies and my total experience is 2 years still I am not getting any much response meanwhile I have a friend who have just 7 months experience in react native has got multiple offers over LinkedIn even though he has not applied anywhere so my point is that laravel is not much in demand and we should switch to any other stack

Working with Python and Django right now. Laravel IS MUCH MORE flexible and elegant framework, than Django. But its not a problem for me. If i had choice i pick Php with laravel ofc.

P.s: Laravel is also the best framework ever for me.

I agree with your statement, sir..

I took from your argument is increase skill, may with stack like vue or react or other..

Correct me if i wrong..

Can you please demonstrate how to handle large data using CSV file? Basically I want to import 3 lacs records that doesn't affect the front-end performance using laravel.

I’ll be honest, it was impossible for me to find a Laravel job per se, but easy enough to find contract work where I had the freedom to build the app in my stack of choice. And I am 10x as productive in something like the TALL stack than I’d be in a full JS stack which might be more in demand for full time jobs. And as a 40 year old dev, contractor work is ideal. I’m getting too old for full time dev positions, and I can charge $200/hr to clients and basically work as much as I want to get whatever work/life balance I need.

Two months? If we look outside that person's "dev bubble" —I'd say it's an extremely privileged point of view. Some brilliant people are struggling to find jobs in non-tech domains, they are looking for many months and some - even for more than a year.
So crying about landing a job in two months seems rather shallow to me. There are plenty of wonderful projects built on Laravel, and, instead of focusing on the framework, I'd focus on the projects: if they make sense to me and if there is a real opportunity to conquer the markets and earn good money.

Quite surprising to hear talk of recession and the perceived decline in demand for Laravel developers. There is no sign of any of that here the Netherlands. Actually there is shortage of personnel across all parts of the job market plus and a consistently high demand for PHP/Laravel developers.

I think is not about laravel, the overall economic situation has made a lot of excellent laravel developers being laid off from companies.
