Transform a Photograph to a Realistic Oil Painting with Photoshop! Learn how to paint in bright and vibrant colors using Advanced Brushes. Right from making the perfect brush stroke to choosing the right color, we'll cover it all.

In this digital painting tutorial, we will start with a photograph for reference. From there, with Kyle's Real Oil Brushes, we will learn a technique to smudge to directly take colors from the portrait, creating each brush stroke to complement the dimension and the drama of the image.

After painting, we will also add some special effects to give it an old and rich renaissance look.

Hey Bhai! I know this is 8 months old, but here's something awesome I found out, when doing this: You can make a simple layer above the picture you plan to make a painting of and then press "sample all layers" with the Mixer brush. That way the "painting is only added to the new layer and you can switch the photo on/of easily to look at your progress!

M a beginner...n I tried this trick (tho I don't have a pentab n all the brushes) it worked kinda well in the first attempt tho it wasn't smooth...so I try "soft round brush" to fix it n it kinda looked nice...so thank you again for all your tutorials...helps a lot to beginners like myself

This is an awesome Effect, and I love how you were clear in your title "transform Photo to Painting". Some might think that this is how Digital Painting is made. I spend hundreds of hours to learn anatomy and paint from scratch even when the end result sometimes look exactly like the reference (in case of photo studies). People should know the difference.
