I have a 1980 oldsmobile delta 88, and when I was, working in a garage i purchased and used a similar tool to put new steel brake lines on my car back to front and the tool I had the brake line wouldn't double flare or flare it would only push the line down thru the vice hole.My friend let me hold his simular looking tool except it was a snap-on tool and I did the back brakes all the way up to the driver side front brake. Now that was, a year ago.So today with the remaining same steel brake line from the kit I purchased a year ago, I'm trying to do the line from the combination valve to the right side front brake caliper.I had a new flaring tool simular to the one in your video and the brake line is pushed down upon flaring, went to auto zone and purchased two new ones, no matter how tight I tighten the vice no bubble on appears in the line, line gets pushed through.Yet in your video you do it with ease.Am I missing some thing here.I did most of my car never had no problems since . I wanted to put a complete line on front right side of car. Right now i have the joiner type connector installed in the middle of the brake line after the first time I lost my front brakes on a highway while going to work, but the emergency brake was frozen i bent it up, frozen probably from lack of use.Down shifting with a prayer, lots of room and 30 off on odd years driving a new York city yellow cab, save my life Damnskippy.

That can't be stainless steel line. Bends too easy and dull.

Do they make a special tool that flares steel brake lines?I hear these days they have copper type lines softer style flexible lines. But I like the steel lines plus I have to use these or they will go to waste.

I also have the cheaper double flare tool like you do. However there is no recessed ridge on the dies for alining true stick out. The height of each of the discs in my set is 3/16. What is the correct stick out for 3/16 double flare?

It's a clutch hard line and a magnet sticks to it so I don't see myself cutting and referring this from underneath the vehicle Is there some more alternative Some type of adapter or junction I need to attach it to a rubber Clutch line I don't care if it's

I got some scratches on the end of flare just use a file and take that out ? or do I need to flare it again or do I need to cut it off and start over it's already on my car clutch line...it leaks

Okay it's a 3/16" flaired hard line tiny imperfection and it won't seal... it's 45 ° angle so everyone is getting copper flair seals that are cone shaped.... People are using them all the time after repairs because everyone's having problems brakes and their clutch each

I'm trying with all my might to drive that die in but I can barely deform the steel line even slightly. Do I have a harder line?
