The Pen Allowance - Birmingham Pen Parcel

In this video I talk about a recent "pen allowance" purchase - the sample Pen Parcel from Birmingham Pen Company! I show you the water color panel of the inks and then on camera swatch and write with each of the 5 inks on Tomoe River 52 g paper.
I've decided to try the Pen Parcel for 3 months .... at the risk of drowning in ink ... because I really love the Birmingham inks -- they behave so well and are affordable and nice looking in my opinion!

Love those Birmingham inks - and the oh so interesting monikers they come up with. Thanks, Chris.

Hi Chris. I absolutely agree about the ink sample boxes bringing colors I would not have normally tried. Browns, grays, oranges and reds have all been added to my ink assortment due to the ink flight. I had thought about the sample box from Birmingham pens but was holding out because "I don't need more ink." Too bad. I love them and I just signed up for this one. Yay!! Ink. It's soul satisfaction. I want the big every color collection too. I am always a day late and a dollar short... have a great week. Thanks for the review.

What a fun surprise on a Sunday evening! I'm strangely drawn to Corroded Tin, not my usual color preference. Thanks for sharing these with us.

I signed up last month when I placed my order for ink. I am enjoying the variety.

Thanks. I have a couple of Birmingham Inks but haven't tried any recently. I certainly liked most of what you showed. You may have convinced me to try the ink sample subscription, something I have been resisting. 😊

Wow, that Golden Gazette color in the new Amber/orange TWSBI Eco would be a great match!

This is a much better value than the Ink Journal sampler. I was disappointed with the tiny amount in the Ink Journal samples, especially for the price! I love the Birmingham Pens people as well. They really have great customer service. Also VanNess Pens have 4ml samples for 3.50!

Monongahela = muh-non-gah-hee-la -- comes from a Native American tribe in Pennsylvania, I believe. Aitch Astray - "h" gone missing, or astray (not ash tray). I've wondered about doing the parcel from Birmingham and this looks pretty cool. I may get sucked in for a couple of months. Thanks for another fun video!

I wonder who picked the name "Corroded Tin"? Pure tin does not corrode or rust, which is why it is used as a plating on steel cans.
That "Golden Gayette" reminds me of an orange marigold flower. All of those inks look really nice in your swabs and writing. 🙂

Thank you for sharing these beautiful colors! I went to the Birmingham sight after hearing what you read from them. I really like their back story. By the way what is the name of the pen you used to sample them? Thank you!

Chris, thank you for your videos as always. Between the Moonman Mini glass nib and your serendipity, which would you recommend for a first dip pen?

I think I'm going to join in too.
