I grew up watching reruns of Julia Child and learned how to cook from her, the Galloping Gourmet and Jaques in black & white tv on the local PBS station (remember wgbh?) This is probably the first recipe I learned to cook well and it has been a staple of my life for over 40 years. My wife and I love it, and look forward to the fall and winter when we make it often!

I LOVED Julia Childs! I'm younger so I watched reruns for the most part, I believe but now I want to watch them all over again!

Curious why you deglazed when it didn't really look like you had anything to deglaze? Additionally, how come no layer of cheese on the soup before putting the bread on and then more cheese? Genuine questions as I'm getting ready to make this soup for the first time. :)

I love that you tribute Julia but your linked recipe is way off. It mentions cognac in ingredients but not in instructions etc. your video doesn’t mention wine or flour linked recipe does. This seems to be a developing and increasing occurrence with YouTube recipe vlogs. Just seems sloppy and easily avoidable.

I nuke my onions for 4 minutes to a lb of onions then they don't take so long to carmalize

Not sure how you come by the pronunciation of “Deuxaves”. Must be an americanized approach, definitely nothing resembling a french
pronunciation.
