Very good tutorial. Wonder if you have this user on a Samba environment what would you suggest to use for mounting the filesystems. Samba mount or NFS?

Thank you for this informative video. Please does it not request for user password during authentication? Also, ssh authentication is not permitted

I have followed all the steps correctly, but when I run the “getent passwd username” command from client machine, I won’t get any answer.

I have checked “SELinux, Firewall” & everything was in turned off state, still I am unable to see LDAP users from client machine.

I have tried to telnet on port 389 to LDAP server & I am able to telnet the LDAP server.

Please guide me, what’s missing? Is there any logs, where I can check the error msgs?

In the latest Centos 7.5 version i was facing a issue while starting slapd service. After reading threads from openldap.org i was able the find the solutions. There was a permission issue ldap db directory as mention there. You need to change the permission of directory :- cn=config
1. cd /etc/openldap/slapd.d/
2. chmod 777 cn=config
3. systemctl start slapd
4. systemctl enable slapd
