In Malta we have been blessed with a Priest who encourages the congregation to receive Jesus on the tongue while kneeling down. May God bless him abundantly and enlighten all other priests to encourage this profound reverence to our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen

Very true but sad at the same time. How many times I didn’t receive the Eucharist because the priest would not give the Host in my mouth!!! So I prefer to make a Spiritual Communion when this priest holds Holy Mass. At least, I will not hurt my Jesus and he understands my reason 🙏🙏🙏 God bless everyone 🙏❤️

Thank you for this post. I returned to receiving the Holy Eucharist by mouth in 2020 during Covid. That is when I realized that Our Lord is coming soon and I have been trying to prepare myself spiritually in every way to be more worthy of His mercy.

Twice, the Eucharistic Minister refused to give me the Communion by mouth. Must have NOT read the memo. I went and told his fellow EMs. Now, they cannot refuse. It pains me to see 99.5% of people receiving by hand. What a sacrilege!

Thank you so much for this information! The Eucharist is the Lord, and should be treated with all reverence, in adoration and love! Who stays quiet about this is an accomplice. My parish priest refuses to give communion to anyone who kneels or wants to receive in the mouth. At a nearby hospital the priest only gives communion if you kneel and receive in the mouth so I often go to the hospital chapel instead. Its a shame but I never wanted to receive in the hand or standing up. We had no choice during the pandemic but now I want to go back to the old - and proper - way.

I was fourteen when this Protestant tradition began in Ireland and the moment I let God be put in my hands I knew the wrong of it … straight away I knew that I was not worthy of my unclean hands to touch our Lord God and Saviour … if the Saints didn’t think they were worthy why would we imagine we are worthy !

New Year’s Day 2024 I went for Mass in a Manhattan Church ⛪️ New York City. Just before holy communion I noticed the elderly priest put on his face mask 😷
Everyone went on line and received Jesus in their hands.
I was the last on line, and I knelt down to receive holy Eucharist in my mouth and the hesitation of the priest was obvious. I was afraid he would deny me the Eucharist but thank God he thought with much hesitation he gave me holy communion.
I am so sorry for this priest!!!
Looks like he has forgotten he is the priest of Jesus.

I used to receive on the mouth until the pandemic hit and we were allowed to receive only in the hand. I hope that the clergy esp. those in the Philippines resort back to giving communion on the tongue and bring back the communion rails with kneelers for those who want to kneel while receiving.

I remember in the 80's when my church started encouraging receipt of the Eucharist in the hand, my gut told me it was not appropriate but went with what my church told me. I was drawn to the TLM a few months ago and from that remembered what it was like to receive the Eucharist in the mouth. I now only receive the Eucharist by mouth at Novus Ordo masses and i will only line up infront of the priest to receive the host. My N.O. priest knows i attend TLM and has not made an issue out of my receiving by mouth only. I will not go back to receiving Our Lord in my hand out of love for him and just respect for his sacrifice. It is sad that Our Lady's messages are not fully embraced by and passed on by the magisterium.

I was given some very good advice from older priest. If at anytime you are refused communion on the tongue, do not walk away from our Lord receive him in your hands. After you have placed our Lord in your mouth while you are standing there or off to the side make a genuine effort to lick the palm and fingers of your hands. This shows great respect to our Lord. And it sends a great message. That there are some of us that truly believe our Lord is in the Eucharist body blood soul and divinity. Come Lord Jesus Christ.
