We don't deep fry everything. It's not like every American has a deep fryer in their home. You will mostly find this at state/county fairs.

My Dad and his Father and his brothers served our country…..my youngest son was in the NAVY….so even in an apartment building my flag is hanging on my door. ❤❤❤❤. Proud to be an American despite the crazy politics!

Those fried foods are novelty foods. We don't eat them regularly. Maybe at a county fair. What is it with Europeans thinking they have been to America by going to New York City? Most of the US thinks it's a cesspool.

A soft drink refill costs less than 8 cents in soda syrup + carbonated water for the restaurant. Charging full price again is ridiculous when a refill keeps the customer happy. Also love the German dude acting like they don't have 80 different versions of Schnitzel (fried meat) and Americans are weird for frying something.

Some gas stations sell coffee mugs (like tumblers). If you take that mug in, they'll let you get free refills on coffee all day, everyday.

He didn't go to America, he went to New York; he standardized that with the rest of the country.😂 If ppl visited the ENTIRE U.S. just for the food, tourism would bring in millions s of ppl a year. It's all an experience. 😊

Fried ice cream is actually a Mexican dish. A large scoop of vanilla ice cream is rolled in a flour, sugar, and cinnamon coating and deep -fried. The coating keeps the ice cream from melting and is delicious! Gotta try some when you visit.!🤠😋🍧

Is it possible that Europeans "claim" to like warm tap water a case of sour grapes? Also, the person below is right. If he spent two weeks in New York City, he hasn't any idea about the country at large.

I have lived in America for 60 years and I need to tell you that the country is so big and the people so diverse that whatever you are looking for you will find it here. It could take you years to look around. Food is high quality if you want it. Fast food (think paper napkins) is eatable but just remember it all depends on how good the cooks were trained and how much pride the workers put into their efforts. You can have two McDonalds within a mile and the food would be delicious at one and awful at the other one. Same ingredients but very different final results. Local pubs have ordinary food, and it is usually fast and good. Sit down restaurants that have tablecloths and linen napkins will serve better food but also more expensive. Always get recommendations from the local people and ask questions about what they serve there. Most people have simple tastes here, we are not the French. LOL
The coastal cities are very different from the interior of the country. Most tourists go to the cities and miss out on vast areas of happy peaceful people who would give you the shirt off of their backs if you are in need.

Fried green tomatoes fresh off the vine are hard to top.

Some of those flags are flown by people who immigrated from another country and are now proud US citizens. I'm especially amused that Lewis forgot to mention that the UK fries fish and chips!

The flying the flag thing has its' roots back to the War of 1812 and Fort McHenry. Our national anthem celebrates that "the flag was still there" after the battle. It's a huge source of pride that no matter what happens our flag will remain flying.

I'd agree that having an American flag raised at your home is part of our history/culture. My grandfather who was a WW2 veteran always flew the flag. I do it in large part as a tribute to him. So it's likely a family tradition to many others. It's also a reminder to value our constitutional rights and strive to uphold the ideals our country was founded on.

The thing about portion sizes in American restaurants: it's very, very common to eat half the meal and take the rest home in a box (doggy bag) to eat later. You aren't expected or required to consume the whole meal at the restaurant, unless you're talking about true fine dining (which generally serves small to tiny portions regardless).

I’m from Germany and I have immigrated to the USA since my mother married an American Army soldier. I was able to join the Air Force and loved being a part of a country that is proud and free. I love the American flag, and we have it on a flag pole in front of our home. I love Germany, because it’s my original home, but I love FREEDOM more, so the USA is where I will stay. 🇺🇸

We tend to bring food home and eat the leftovers for lunch.

All right check this out. I’m a chef in America, working in a kitchen you get free drinks all day. I don’t put ice in mine, because the soda comes out of the tap cold, and if you DONT put ice in it, you get more. If you do out ice in it it gets watered down for my tastes. My older brother taught me this, when we used to go to drive throughs getting a snack, he never got ice because it’s already cold.. places where I live will pack your cup full of ice just to give you less. So say no ice, get all the soda.

I can't help but notice they keep saying because of the history but don't mention the history, so here's some quick context.

The reason we love our flag so much can be traced back to the war of 1812, aka the Brits came back and wanted our shit again. 😂
(Won the revolutionary war and had been a country for 50 years or so.)

During that war, the British had taken hold of a fort, (/town) or they tried to anyway.

They would bombard it from the shore, certain nobody could possibly survive the bombardment. The admiral in charge of the fleet has made a deal with the Americans.

If they could keep their flag flying, keep it in the air, they would be American, if they couldn't, they would be British and they basically would have been considered to have surrendered.
(Or something along these lines. My memory of it is a bit fuzzy.)

What I remember the most is that, the flag never stopped flying. And the reason for that?
People from the town and fort alike died raising it. That flag had a pile of bodies underneath it by the time the British stopped their bombardment. Bodies of the men, women, and children who refused to give up their freedom, who would rather die than be under British rule.

That's why we remember our flag, that's why we fly it everywhere.

Because of people like them, who would die for the cause of freedom.

We fly our flag to remember them. We fly it out of respect.
It's a way of saying, "you will not be forgotten."
And has become a sign of hope in dark times.

Americans don't deep fry everything. The video mentions novelty foods only sold at fairs and carnivals. We don't buy a bag of oreos and deep fry them (we dip them in milk).
