Carded at 63. Some stores have rules that everyone gets ID'd. Went to one store where the owner watched the security cameras to make sure his cashiers carded everybody. Forgot my ID once and the girl said, "Just show me your open wallet, the camera isn't that good".

We really lost our 24 hour stores when Covid hit. They said they needed overnights to clean extra. It's just the convenience stores now, or fast food. I miss the 24 hour walmart. Going shopping when there's very little people is preferred.

The portions are bigger, but many of us take some home and make a couple meals out of it...works for me! 😊

COVID ruined a lot of 24 hour shops. Like Walmart. A 4AM trip to Walmart was strangely serene.

I'm 63 and your enthusiasm is refreshing and comical. Thanks for the laughs and I truly hope that you can come over to America any time.

I'm a 56 year old American woman and I own a Smith and Wesson handgun as well as a combine bow. I can use both with accuracy. Born and raised in the south. Pretty common.

Lewis, in some places, the cashiers are required to ask the customer for ID, no matter how old they are. This protects them from the government penalizing the place or even revoking their liquor license, which could ruin their business, so they dont take any chances. The gov will sometimes send in underage decoys to see if the place is selling prohibited items to minors

Oh, and BTW, while visiting the UK, I was required to show ID to buy some nail scissors at Boots! (Boots is like a cosmetics/drug store chain in the UK.) I asked why, and learned it was because they are sharp. So, yeah.

I'm an American living in the UK. I have worked in a few places in the US that it is company policy to ID EVERYONE. My Mother was asked for ID to purchase wine when she was 91. When you require your cashiers to ID everyone, they will not forget to card anyone and illegal sales won't happen.

I work in a store where anything age restricted (alcohol, cigarettes, etc) requires we scan the customers ID on the register scanner, or it won't allow the sale.

There is a song called "God Bless America" that we used to hear often. I can't remember the last time I heard it sang.

I was a cashier in the United States and if I worked in England, I would be driving away customers. I am a friendly extrovert and can talk to anyone. Everyone in my store was greeted with a friendly smile and a hello. And when they left, they were told to have a great evening.

Commercials on TV drive this American crazy! I rarely watch anything live. I record what I want to watch and then watch it later, skipping through the commercials.

Gym clothes are very common. Joggers or shorts and T-shirts for guys, yoga pants or leggings and sports bras or tank tops or T-shirts for women. People will go out in their pajamas, too. High school and college kids go to class in pajamas if they feel like it.

Once you actually get into the heart of the meal, the waitstaff tends to lay off and not come around as often. They might come by a little bit after you get your food and then again towards the end of the meal.

I'm 70. I was asked for ID buying wine at the grocery store last week. But not while buying bourbon at the liquor store yesterday. This is why: The liquor stores in Pennsylvania are run by the state. The one in my town is a little boutique-style store. They can afford to make judgment calls, especially for old ladies like me, because the lower traffic, higher visibility, and state store policy gives them cover. The grocery store is a high-volume, very busy location. Rather than put the responsibility on the clerk, who may be younger than the customer (one can't always tell by looks alone), it makes more sense just to have a blanket policy. It's more difficult to argue when it's the same for everyone.

I've seen a lot of people say "There are less guns than I expected" but really they are just concealed😅

Shopping is something most people in the US take for granted. Where I live, nearly all gas stations and convenience stores never close, even on major holidays like Christmas. Also, some grocery stores and pharmacies are the same way. It is quite nice.
