I've heard many foreigners say that root beer tastes like medicine. The reason is that the root (sassafras) is used to flavor medicine in other countries, but not here. We tend to use mint.

My biggest tip for non-Americans is that the soda needs to be very cold. It's gross when at room temperature or warm. Or if it's allowed to go flat.

Beef jerky actually has a history here in America, dating back to the frontier and cowboy days. Cowboys used to carry jerky on them while traveling because, well.. it's meat, so it's relatively filling and hearty, it's easy to eat, and easy to store, which was important for a job requiring cross-country travel on horseback. This tradition still lives on, as beef jerky these days is popular to have in the car with you on a road trip.

A helpful hint for root beer: the colder it is, the better it tastes. Especially if you're drinking it on a hot day. Throw some vanilla ice cream into some ice-cold root beer, and it's even better.

If you want another tip: Twinkies dunked in chocolate milk. You can also try spray cheese on your goldfish crackers to elevate them.

That little square in the bag of Beef Jerky is a moisture barrier to prevent mold and extend shelf life.

little tricks- 1) make sure sodas are COLD, best if left in the fridge for long enough to be chilled throughout. 2) root beer is great with a scoop or two of vanilla ice cream= Root beer float (put ice cream in the glass first then add root beer. it will foam up quite a lot so make sure it is a very large glass). 3) Jerky is best when you bite off little pieces.

Traditionally, A&W is served in a chilled mug, and with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, that is what we call a float.
