2 broken arms, a broken leg and 5 1/2 years as a POW (Some in solitary) and he refused to use the status of his father and grandfather to cut in line and get released before his brothers in arms.When his supporters tried to go low when he ran against President Obama, he made it a point to correct even after surviving the presidential run against George Bush when he had people call voters and tell them that his adopted daughter was a product of an affair with a black hooker.He was so bothered by towing the party line when asked about his PERSONAL views on the confederate flag that he had to hold a press conference and apologize and tell everyone that PERSONALLY he feels the confederate flag is a repulsive reminder of slavery even though he has ancestors who fought for the confederacy.He was a republican who could disagree with democrats but work with them to pass legislation that was best for the country.  And he is considered an "outdated" republican.  RIP John McCain.

I've always respected McCain, especially for his refusal to be released in Vietnam. I think his willingness to work across party lines is admirable, and it's evident by his friends on both sides.
