Van dijk was still playing at Southampton until he was 27. De ligt has two more years of growth and development before he reaches the level that van dijk was when Liverpool bought him. I cannot believe we got him for such a good price. Medical department just needs to do their job and keep him on the pitch bc he’s going to be amazing for us

Still waiting for Slot to come out and explain his tactics 😂

Give credit we’re credit is due. Casemiro slotted a perfectly weighted pin point pass through the Southampton defence for the full back to run onto and square the ball to Garnacho.

I don't understand the ongoing "we are playing badly all the time" narrative in the media. Southhampton controlled parts of the game in the first one-third of the match. Dibiling is a good up-and-coming winger, he gave us quite a misery. Soton took 6 shots incl. one pen but we did create a big chance in that particular period. After the Pen, we were able to take control of the game. We took 20 shots, 4 (1 big chance) within the first 30 minutes and 16 in the rest of the game. Southhampton had zero shots afterward. Our possession percentage increased, we won most ground duels and we had the most successful dribble. We scored 3 goals out of 2.67 xG, we created 5 big chances among them 3 were missed.
I know it is "just" Southampton, but should "the first 30 minutes bad" period diminish what we did in the rest 60 minutes? In my opinion, we did more than "OK". If we scored 2 more goals, that would have been something!
I get it, the pressure is mounting day by day, I urge my fellow fans to have faith, belief, and a little bit of patience. Please do not be prejudiced in your thoughts, try to see everything clearly in your own mind and try not to heed too much of the media. They want us to fail and rejoice in our misery.

Love to see Amass vs Barnsley with Dalot at RB. Mazraoui needs a rest!

Zirkzee is the closest thing to Cantona I’ve seen, deft touch, always smooth, rarely wastes a pass, very often one-touch AND ACCURATE passes, goals in him for sure. Massive potential!

This won't be popular but in my opinion, Zirkzee did a lot more than Bruno. His scanning, his passing were top notch but yeah as a striker he's got to put it behind thr net!

Arne Slot is history maker first to lose forest in 55 years hat off to the guy

Dalot at left back was awful
Dalot moved to his natural position and got an assist
Im not too worried, Dalot is doing a job for the team out of position

1st season, we were conservative, sat deep and our strength was only defence and seeing out the game. 2nd season, it was Ten Hag's fault that he misjudged the capacity of his players, injuries, PL teams in general by implementing the high press which did us so harm. The thing is I would have more Qs for him if he would have continued playing that conservative approach from 1st season in the 2nd season and coming into this one, it was a "safe" approach because back then it was all about churning out results. Ole was criticised for the same thing. Progressed a lot in the 20/21 season, even a kid would understand what our football style was and then we bring Varane, Cristiano & Sancho who didn't suit that style at all. Nobody understood him and his problems then due to "lack of play-style" but when there actually was, but not front-foot.
Now, the same fans aren't being patient with Ten Hag if the whole purpose is to play front-foot football. Evolution takes time, it did for every team. I really loved how we played yesterday, even the transitions in the 1-30 mins when Southampton were on top. Play-style is there but we need to understand that possession football is not the only style. Still, we have had more possession in all games, conceded fewer than 15 shots in all games, created enough chances (except Liverpool game). Attackers are going to get many chances compared to the 1st 2 seasons. I don't see why Rashford, Garnacho, Hojlund, Zirkzee, Amad, Bruno all can't hit double figures in G/A. Pretty achievable individually and see are goal numbers shoot up (which every fans want this term)Lets keep up the momentum. Result is good but for once, we controlled and managed the game and actually enjoyed watching us.

No surprise that now we have 4/5 new players on the pitch who are way more comfortable with the ball that we can control the game better?

there was a moment when zirkzee shot was blocked by a players foot. look closely at it. he sent ramsdale diving to the right and it would have looped over his trailing leg had it not been blocked.
eyeing the keeper to dive one way and chipping the other isn't a common trait.

im sure he will get more

where does yoro come in? Well... we finished the game with a back 4 of Evans, maguire, casemiro and Dalot. So I think there's plenty of space for Yoro

Really like that Garnacho is making a case for himself to start. Make yourself undeniable. It forces Rashy to produce and Amad to keep performing.

Zirkzee could play as a 10, his passing and playmaking is THAT doesnt have to be there every minute of every single game

Ok a solid performance against bottom of the table. Lets not get carried away at all. We'll play sides 10x better than Southampton so lets make judgements then. Hopefully this can be a solid performance to build upon. Time will tell.

Really think Erik needs to start giving Amass a go on Tuesday night. Unless I'm mistaken, Dalot and Nous are our only available first team fullbacks so they need to be protected. Best thing about yesterday's victory was securing the control, victory and clean sheet after such a poor first half. Would really love a 5 goal game from these guys soon.

I don’t want to hear any negativity about dalot. Guy has been our most professional, most reliable player since ten hag came in. Playing out of position to help the team whilst shaw and malacia are out and regularly even out of position is our better or best player on the pitch. Even when shaw comes back I hope he still comes on or starts rotating with mazroui every game because he’s really proven his worth for the club.
