In excel, the division sign or symbol is this forward slash.

Here is a blank excel spreadsheet, and let’s say that we want to divide the number 44 by 11, and put the answer in cell B3.

We start by left clicking on cell B3, so it is highlighted, then we type in the equals sign, next we type in the dividend, or the number we are dividing into, in this case 44, then we type in the division sign, forward slash on the keyboard, and then we type in the divisor, or the number we are dividing by, in this case 11. Next, we finish by hitting the enter key, and we get an answer of 4.

And if the answer is not a whole number, such as with this, 14 divided by 3, excel will produce the answer with decimals.
