Man. Almost 20 years later, these animation sprites still hold up pretty well. Especially for an 8-bit game.

I love how they actually made every pokemon seem unique and have individual personalities unlike sword and shield.

Gen 2's animations have so much more life because the animation focuses on each Pokemon's unique features and personalities (eg. Ekans' rattle, Starmie's spinner, Ampharos' orbs, Teddiursa sucking its paw, etc.), rather than adjusting random parts of their bodies seen in Gen 3 and 4, and their 3D models to an extent. Also, someone else was joking about the blinking/eye movements, but they help so much in characterizing each individual sprite.

Ah.. Pokémon Crystal, my very first Pokémon game i ever completed. Brings me back the old days, when i wasn't worried about college, work or else. Just playing games, great work!!

QOTD: Arcanine, Dragonite and Bellossom are my favorite animations.

Pokemon going 3d was a mistake. They will never have the same charm and cuteness as these 2d sprites
