I have two tenors, one concert, and a baritone. Tenor is probably my favorite size so I put baby baritone strings on one of my tenors and it sounds fantastic.

I have small hands. I have been playing on my concert for about a month and just got my soprano uke. For the first time I can play some more complicated chords. I did think my soprano was a little buzzy so I went to a music shop and they checked, had no problem and had me try. It was me. Curved my fingers a bit more and now she sings! Now I have a year to practice and learn to decide if I want to get a higher end uke or move to the banjo like I planned. I’m really in love with the ukulele now and I concert and soprano are my favorites!

In second grade they taught us to play the ukulele. In fourth grade it was the recorder.
My high school English teacher, after he retired, became known locally as The Ukulele Man and did shows all around the area.
It made me think maybe I could play the banjo, but after my wife bought me one I found it hard to stay with it. Those things are Big.
Still keeping my eye out for a ukulele I think I can afford. I think nothing could be easier, unless its a dulcimer.

All three of the standard sizes have their charms. My favorite is the concert, but lately I've been warming up to the soprano in a major way.

The thing I like with the ukulele is the chords, especially the embellishments you can do over them and ESPECIALLY over a C chord just strumming and moving up and down the C major scale on the A-string sounds nice and moving around the different chords, dropping fingers on and lifting them off, this is much easier than with guitar because usually I have free fingers and often it can be fingers 1, 2 or 3 used for this where guitar requires the pinky more, once you know your scales, it is easy to know what notes will sound nicest and where you can add tension. Nylon is far softer on fingers than steel, good way to toughen up your fingers for other stringed instruments and get a feel for stringed instruments in general and bends are so much easier, barre chords are a doddle compared to guitar, don't shred my index finger doing them. I tend to play my uke a lot for those reasons and because it is very small and light and easy to handle, even without a strap! And it's just a lot of fun, it is hard to make it sound bad! Although for melodies I love my violin and that is at the opposite end of the spectrum in many regards but the violin and uke work well together, the G and the A strings are the same if you have a low G so they are very happy in the same key. I love stringed instruments in general though and have quite the collection, however I initially found stringed instruments harder to play than a recorder or harmonica or keyboard, but for the combination of portability, ease of play, range and options like chords, the ukulele is a great instrument to start out with (if you don't just fall in love with it and make it your go to that is!)

I got a Soprano as my first uke and had trouble fingering chords. Getting a Concert fixed that, and after I got used to it I was able to return to the Soprano.

JuicyJuicy video brother! I have a tenor ukulele with a low G and two baritone ukuleles. I agree they are easy to play! I recommend the baritone ukulele because it is a great way to play guitar chords with less fingers and strings ... I've played at a few guitar jams using my baritone ukulele and tenor ukulele. Terry I would love to see you do a video on how much easier it is to play Guitarlele vs guitar . Please make more guitarlele videos! It's still my favorite! Reason number 5 is my favorite reason. The Ukulele community is the best! They even support me while I learn harmonica! 💯🙏🎸👍🍓🍎🍓🍓🎼💗💗💗

My gf’s daughter was playing one and I was moved and was like…you know what I want one, I love music. I bought a concert enya ukulele, I been trying to get back into music for a while. I use to play 🎷 sax back in middle school, high school band played clarinet, and I also tried piano but didn’t have money to pay for my lessons due to hardship. Im going to take it to the music shop tomorrow to change out the strings also check out the setup. But I still want a tenor ukulele lol 😂

5:17 Having never played any stringed instrument, I am going to have to risk being called out here - but I am going to have to completely disagree with you that guitar is one of the hardest instruments to learn…
From what I’ve heard, I would think that the hardest instrument to learn is the violin (or viola - which I’ve heard is even more difficult to play than the violin - maybe due to its heavier weight and bigger size, while playing it by a similar method to the violin - holding it between your chin and shoulder), because there is no fretboard to help you determine where the notes are - so how does anyone know?

I've been wanting to play bass guitar for a while but want to also try out the ukelele. I'm thinking of a tenor, but with a low G instead. Do most tenor ukelele sold today have a low G?
