(a +b +c )² - 2( ab + bc + ca) = (10)² -- 2(45) = 100 -- 90 = 10

The correct answer is 10. The equation is in the form (x+a)(x+b)(x+c), a cubic polynomial . So the roots of the equation are -a, -b and -c.
Let these zeroes/roots be α, β, γ respectively. (For convenience)
Now, [(-α)+(-β)+(-γ)]^2 = α^2+β^2 +γ^2 + 2(αβ+ βγ+γα)
From the equation, x^3-10x^2+ 45x -15.
We get by comparing, a=1, b= -10, c= 45, d= -15.
Now, sum of roots [(-α)+(-β)+(-γ)] = -b/a = -(-10)/1=10.
Similarly, (αβ+βγ+γα)= c/a =45/1=45.
Now by substituting these values in the equation above, we get
(10)^2 = α^2+β^2+γ^2 + 2×45
=> α^2+β^2+γ^2= 100-90= 10.

We can write a²+b²+c² as (a+b+c)²-2(ab+bc+ca)
Now, a+b+c is 10 (-coefficient of x²) and ab+bc+ca is 45 (coefficient of x)
So, a²+b²+c² = 100- 2(45) = 10.
