Quidditch World Cup

Team USA has become World Quidditch Champions for the 3rd time as they beat Belgium in the final in Florence, Italy.

It was the biggest tournament to date with over eight hundred (800) players coming to the city to compete and play.

It combines elements of rugby and dodgeball to create a fast-paced, full-contact co-ed sport. It has proved to be a popular game for athletes and “Potter” enthusiasts alike and has grown enormously in the past few years.

The 2018 IQA World Cup was the fourth edition of the IQA World Cup, the international quidditch championship organized by the International Quidditch Association, the sport's global governing body. It was held in Florence, Italy between 27 June and 2 July 2018.

Australia was the defending champions. The United States won their third championship after beating Belgium in the final. Over 800 athletes participated in the competition.

As of July 2022 - The sport of Quidditch has changed its name to quad ball.

In December 2021 -two of the sport’s major governing bodies, US Quidditch and Major League Quidditch, said they were considering a name change due to “sponsorship and broadcast opportunities” that had been lost because Warner Bros, which produces the Harry Potter film series, owns the copyright for the sport’s present name.

However, another of the sport’s governing bodies, the International Quidditch Association cited JK Rowling’s “anti-trans positions” as a reason for the change.

Use hoverboards as brooms,
a mini-drone as the snitch,
have the rings set a bit higher and have the keeper jump on a surrounding trampoline to block.

I haven't laughed as much as when they revealed how the snitch works. I spent the whole video up to that point thinking "okay that's fine, cringey, but fine, how on earth are they going to pull the snitch off" and then I saw that they pretty much just literally do pull the snitch off.
