Today we are going to break down exactly what is in tear gas. We want to give you all the scientific facts about this substance. We are going to go over a lot in today’s video, from what it is on a chemical level, to when it was invented, to who it was invented by, and where. It’s common knowledge that it is an incredibly painful substance, but why is this?
Other things we will discuss have to do with the effects of this substance on the human body, and how to recover from it. Again, it’s well known that it affects the eyes and the nose, and also that it causes a lot of pain, but there are many other symptoms that occur when it comes in contact with the human body. It’s not just respiratory either, many times the skin can be extremely irritated by this substance. We’ll also go over exactly how to treat these symptoms, and just how long they will last.

As a kid, I went through a tear gas chamber at Camp Pendleton CA. The inner chamber was so full of tear gas you could barely see your hand in front of your face. Burned like crazy but afterward, a few minutes in a light breeze and NOT touching my face, I was fine. FF a couple years, in Navy boot camp, I went through their chamber. It was as clear as the room I'm sitting in now. My eyes teared up, nose ran, exposed skin burned, but nothing like the chamber at Camp Pendleton. What really got me was transitioning from the chamber into fresh air. That's what lit me up. But a nice breeze fixed everything.
