It is so refreshing to see this being talked about. There are so many forms of Invisible Illness, and they do not need to stop you from being successful in business. Heart Failure/CKD/EB/and so so many more that are not mentioned in the interview. Dilated Cardiomyopathy the list goes on. Some good points here.

No. Chronic fatigue is a symptom of many diseases. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is the condition otherwise known as Myalgic Encephalomyelitis. M.E is far far FAR more than FATIGUE.

So true. Thank you. I have RA and have had so for over 25 years. It affects every part of your life. Folks pass it off, saying, “Oh, everybody has bad knees, etc. It comes with age.”Well, RA is not osteoarthritis and they don’t get it. It was almost a relief, sad to say, when deformities started showing up on me. I don’t have to explain so much, but it gets tiring.

Ive had Crohn’s Disease for 40 years and friends during all that time and still they don’t get why I can’t just get up and go somewhere like them. I’ve given up trying to explain.

The vast majority of people with ME/CFS have dysautonomia, a neurovascular disorder that causes the pooling of blood in the feet, hands, and pelvis. This is considered the main driver of post-exertional malaise which is the defining feature of ME/CFS, differentiating it from other forms of fatigue. This needs to be made clearer to both the public and doctors.

You cannot see my dysautonomia, but the fatigue and other symptoms from my ME/CFS are much easier for others to understand once what is happening within the body due to dysautonomia and orthostatic intolerance is understood.

Married to a personal trainer. Want to scream lack of exercise didn’t cause these nor will it fix them!
I hate my life being time being told it’s all the meds you need sunlight, exercise would help, you just like those pills. I have bipolar 1, severe anxiety, ptsd, hypothyroid, tachycardia, ADHD, to name most. I feel exhausted so much if the time, (quit being lazy) There are side affects of the meds and discomfort from the disorders themselves. The meds don’t magically make you feel all better. They may make the symptoms less. I told my husband what if I berated you because you have afib?

I won one of the jackpots - I have 8 different invisible illnesses. The only visible one is a huge scar on my neck from failed spine surgeries = severe pain, loss of strength, fatigue, but even with that scar, healthy people will never understand and I've accepted that. A few years ago I broke my ankle and my wrist, both in a cast, not very handy (!) - it was the only time when healthy people could relate to how different my life ' must be', but oddly it was one of the most relaxing times in my life, as well because once I was over the initial 'why me?', since I couldn't do anything, my whole body got to rest, I couldn't push my body beyond its limits, when I said no to people, people were understanding about it etc etc. So people, please be kind to each other.
