Turns out the algebra she skills of substitution and evaluation are foundational skills that are used again and again in algebra, in so many contexts. What a great example of a real "score booster" for the GED Math test. Practice one concept for tons of points!

These examples may look very different−a geometry word problem, a straight up "evaluate the expression" algebra example, and finding the y-value of a point given the equation of the line and it's x value−but, ultimately, they are just three examples of the same thing. Follow along as Kate tries each example two ways, doing the substitution herself in order to hone this crucial skill for college and using her TI-30XS Multiview GED® calculator to perform both the substitution and the simplification utilizing the store function.
