I felt the exact same way about The God of the Woods, I just finished it last night. I gave it 3.5 stars. I have another book club tomorrow morning discussing it before heading over to the Literally Dead Book Club for that discussion, can’t wait to hear everyone’s thoughts!

The God in the Woods - completely agree. We also read it for my book club last month. We all thought it could have used another edit. I also was expecting it to be A LOT creepier than what it was.

My favorite book last month was The Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow.

man I'm non-binary, pansexual, and autistic, and Open Throat hit me like a fucking BUS with how much I felt seen. extremely good representation for queer and trans people but I think anyone who has ever felt out of place can relate. it just ripped my soul out and said LOOK AT THEM THIS BOOK IS ABOUT THEM
I finished it and just broke into sobs lmao that is my book of the year, if not that it's really close for me between that and A Day of Fallen Night

For a Folk Horror rec, I would suggest Lost in the Garden by Adam S. Leslie 🌼 If you are more of a seasonal reader, it's perfect for Summer .. though honestly it could be read at any time.. it's a fun one!
