I love her so much, she's become my favourite character after diving into the OVAs and I got to see more of her. She tries so hard to mask her emotions with coldness and distance but you can just tell she's caring and loyal

Annie just doesn't want to admit even to herself that she has a sweet and caring side. I'm glad Armin was there for her so she could come to terms with that part of herself and accept that she could actually care about another human being without it feeling weird to her.

The Cat was Marco reincarnated also by misconception or legends that a black cat is meant to be bad luck, Annie's life has been one misfortune after another.

-Marcel got eaten in their first mission
-She was manipulated by Reiner to sabotage Marco along with Berthold which caused Marco's death
-Berthold then gets eaten by Armin
- Failing to capture Eren TWICE thus unable to go home to her country and reunite with her dad
- Imprisoned in a crystal for 4 years in a comatose state after Armin exposed her identity as a shifter
- Had her Home town and country trampled by the Rumbling
- Her only family (adoptive dad) became a Titan momentarily

I see why Annie was kept alive, she had one of the most complex and fascinating stories in the Aot cast and the more you dive deeper into her characterization then it all pieced itself together, she was only a child soldier following her obligations towards her country as well as to ensure a better life for herself and her dad.

She was never cruel, just trapped by a sense of toxic devotion because she wasn't allowed to be a normal person and with that comes a cost of which she is slowly losing her sanity and humanity trying to complete her objective for 5 years while living with so called "devils" which were proven to be false propaganda absurdity, the warriors were all brainwashed and manipulated by their oligarchy.

Annie tried to feed the cat, but all it saw was a killer. As a logical reaction, it hissed and defended itself.

Logically, this is how all people should react to a dangerous murderer like Annie. But it is precisely this that is why those who can see and proactively treat her well despite that logic are the people who can save her.
