What if you were never served the initial lawsuit documents ? The only thing I got was forwarded from an old address in a different county which was from the law firm whos suing me stating ; "I failed to answer and only have 10 days from the date on the letter to answer in writing before a judgement is made etc... "

Funny thing is, this document arrived 4 days after the day it was dated, leaving me 6 days or less to find an attorney and or answer the court in writing.

What should one do if they failed to answer, in thus case being me. Merely because I didn't know what to do. I know that's not a good excuse, but I just did not know what to do. They have set a court court date. I do not owe what they are claiming, so I intend to answer that. However, since I didn't respond to the original complaint, what is the best way to proceed. Is it a lost cause? TU

My court date is coming up in May 2021. I'm been sued by a third party debt collector. What happens if i file for banckruptcy before my court date. Do i still have to go to court? They suing me for a lot more money than what i owe!!

The debt collector attached an affidavit of this person ( affidavit of John ABC Smith ) who asserted that he had reviewed the record where it showed the debt purchase-date between the original creditor and the current debt-collector. Does this record suffice to serve as proof of This Mr. Smith said the record maintained by the current debt-collector (?!?) and he has access to the Plaintiff/debt-collector's system and there's a screenshot of it in the table/grid presentation attached. Are Smith and his stuff legit as affidavits?

Should I ask for the purchase agreement paper between the original creditor and the current collector?

What if the person served is in quarantine because of covid and cannot go personally to file an answer before time limit expires? Can someone else take the answer and file it on behalf of the defendant?
