ABOUT ME:
My name is Mengy and this is my motovlog channel, Moto Mengy. I plan to upload a Goldwing motovlog every Sunday. I ride a 2018 Honda Goldwing DCT Tour but I rode Harley Davidson's for 25+ years before. I'm motovlogging with a GoPro Hero 8 Black mounted to a Bell Mag 9 open face helmet, no external mic! To me riding is wind therapy.

My goal for the channel is to motovlog Pennsylvania country roads while also motovlog exploring around America. I'll also talk about biker topics and such, probably test ride a few other motorcycles, and will definitely get lost and accidentally wind up on unpaved roads along the way.

Please SUBSCRIBE if you like my motovlog channel and LIKE any videos you enjoy! Thanks!!!

Awesome video and I agree with you 100%. If my wife asked me to give up riding, she wouldn't like the answer. She would never ask she encourages me to ride. I was away from riding for over 20 years. Ultimatums kill relationships. Saying "I would rather you didn't" would go better with me atleast.
As far as loosing a leg, I've lost 2 (right above the knee, left below the knee) in a worksite accident. Where there is a will there is a way. There is a big group for amputee riders on Facebook. Some are on trikes like me, some ride two wheels with little to no mods. Life is too short, get out and ride. ✌

This DCT Tourer came along at the right time. I was considering giving up my 05 Gl1800. It was getting heavy and I’m pushing the 70 mark. I took that DCT Tourer out as soon as they got one here in Lubbock. Ha ha. It still makes me feel young. It’s lighter, wow, nimble, so easy to ride. This DCT Tourer absolutely came out at the right time in this old man’s life. I’m still grinning after 4 years of this perfect bike. Ride on…..

What's up Mengy, this is a topic I was thinking about recently. I love riding and put a lot of miles on my bike every year but every once in a while I get the feeling that riding isn't fun, or at least not as fun as it once was for me. Maintenance cost, bad weather, repetitive routes all seem to add up at times making motorcycle riding seem like a chore in itself. But the incredible highs that motorcycle riding can bring make it all worth it. Being out on the perfect day enjoying life with no one in front of you makes the difficulties well worth it. New Roads will always be discovered, maintenance challenges will always be overcome, and the motorcycle community will continue to grow and give back. Have a great season Mengy!

Great video Mengy. Honestly, I considered giving it up a few years ago. However as soon as I rode the 2018+ Honda Goldwing, I felt the joy of riding again. It is such an awesome bike and it still gives me that excitement every time I ride it.

When I have to switch glasses to see where I’m going and how fast I’m going it will be time to give it up. My wifey just bought me a brand new Triumph T120 Bonneville Gold edition on Saturday 😁😁😁

I was up front with my wife (girlfriend at the time) - "I'm easy to get along with but don't ask me to give up riding". I feel if you love someone you wouldn't ask them to give up a passion.
I feel the same as you, I think even if I was in a bad accident, as long as I could still ride I would keep doing it. I don't think you are a bad person for feeling that way. Great topic!

I’m dealing with this now, like many others. I gave up riding once I got married, oddly enough one of our first dates with my wife was on the back of my bike. Fast forward to today, retired, daughter is grown have the time and finances to enjoy riding again. I just came back from at 2800 mile ride from Pa to Key West.

My wife was so bad she was ready to leave me…my thoughts are you kidding me. At this time I have a k1600, but this DTC, is very interesting to me.

I have a few trips planned for later this month, totaling 5500 miles, after which I will be selling my bike. I have had nothing traumatic, and in fact, riding has been one of the best things I have ever done in my life. I will finish with about 117k miles in my motorcycle career. I am quitting because I will have gone to all of the places that I wanted to go, and there are other things that I want to do in my life. When the bike is in the garage during the riding season, I am ALWAYS on it. It's just time for a new chapter. That being said, I rode for five years, quit for five years, then bought another bike in 2017 and am just over five years with that one, in that era of my moto career. So maybe I'll be back. One never knows.

The only reason I’ve considered giving up riding is to spend time traveling the country in an RV with my wife. Not that I would have to literally quit riding but the bike would just sit, so I’d probably sell it.

I had a really bad motorcycle accident just over 3 years ago where my 5 month old GSA was totaled. I only had 9 stitches to show for it and was on a new GS by the end of the month. 😀

Great Video I'm on the fence, gerbman 2004 echoed my thoughts. I'm 64 and have alot of arthritus and I'm on the fence. I remember several years ago a daily walker walked past house seen my Gold Wing and got emotional telling me when he had to move on because of health. I think if you like to ride the thrill is always there memories of good times. I will have to say the way people drive today and also being distracted. People don't think nothing about turning in front of you. Usually once a week in warm weather you read about another motorcyclists death. I'm about 50 miles from Chicago.

You are bang on the money... ultimatums are just the deathbed of relationships. Sounds like you have a good relationship.

Like everything, when it’s no longer fun… I’d give it up.. like softball… at some point it’s just was no longer fun, and a one time it was my passion…. Just gave it up. That was a decade ago.

If a partner told me it was them or bikes.... I'd hopefully not need them to move out my way as I rode off into the sunset to live happily ever after! :D

I think you hit the nail on the head. I once told an ex the same thing, (that is not why she is the ex LOL). If you ride, hunt, camp, (what ever your hobby is when you met) you should not be required to give it up. Send em packing, I would say the same thing if the other party involved were to ask this of the other person. Now, if a person decides to give it up for their own reasons, that is different.

Been riding since 1972. My wife stopped when she got pregnant. Had an accident on Labor Day weekend 1979 right before our first son was born, but after recovering I kept on riding. That accident was my fault. A friend had an accident right around the same time. He got T-boned with his girlfriend on the back. He put his bike back together and then quit. His accident was caused by someone else. Different circumstances, different outcomes.

Things are changing in the world 🌎 with high gas prices ⛽️$4, 50⛽️and rising ⛽️ I think 💭
Several people will be forced on motorcycles and scooters 😢 I am wondering if that will affect the price of Motorcycle and how 🌴🌴

Work and weather get in the way a lot. If this video was shot recently, you've been pretty lucky with weather. Up here it's been super cold and wet most of the time, except on work days of course, then it's warm and sunny when I can't go. I haven't been out hardly at all this spring so far. But I believe there is no such thing as not having time, only not MAKING time to do the things you want to do. However, when people get much older, it gets much harder physically to ride, especially big bikes. Many people close to 80 that have been riding all their life have told me they just cant hold up the bike any more. I think when I get to this point, god willing, I would probably move to a smaller scooter which is light and easy to handle.
