Your point about outfit matches is on point. I work in diplomatic fields and we wear suits all the time but guess what? my boss wore his G-shock all the time and my other boss wears dive watches all the time with tuxedo and morning suits yet nobody cares, they’ll spend most of their time under your cuff anyway. People only care if you have a time or not.

Just make sure to keep an eye for an alarm function though, I had my Vulcain goes off during the ceremony and I was an MC holding mic so the room sounds like someone let crickets in.

If youre going to say automatic and mechanical are seperate movement types, then you may as well include solar quartz along with quartz

Automatic is a sub category of mechanical. I would rather talk about self-winding watches.

Might be more accurate to say two types of movements… Mechanical and quartz… Different types/subcategories of those 2 movement types. Great recommendation on not going into debt, purchasing a watch… Having done it I can say it was a mistake! 50+ watches and counting…

Ever since I got my Tudor black bay with a black dial I don't wear any of my other watches anymore. Currently I'm in love with my Tudor and it's the only watch I wear

The only rules I follow for watches are matching the color of the leather strap to my belt & shoes, and matching the color of the metal case to my ring & belt buckle.

You forgot about solar watches which don't need batteries and just need a capacitor change once every 20 to 25 years.

All automatic are mechanical but not all mechanical are automatic, so we say there are quartz and mechanical (automatic and hand wound). Hand wound and automatic watches prices can fluctuate but never because of its winding mechanism. And wearing a g shock on a suit look pretty weird. Welcome to the hobby my friend!

For my bony wrists, buying watch with more than 45mm lug to lug is a no go 😂😂

I had pathetic copy if Diesels big dady watch which is 55mm. I would wear it and my wrist is 6.7 inch. It would look too big but still i kept wearing that. Later i get used to it.

There are only 2 types of movements: Quartz and Mechanical. There are 2 types of Mechanical movement: Automatic (by rotor) and Manual (hand-wound). Seiko Spring Drive however, is debatable. It is basically a hybrid mechanical watch with a quartz regulator.

What's your thoughts on Steeldive watches? I just got a SteelDive SD1993 GMT Pepsi. Seiko NH34 movement and I love it. Only paid $160 for it.
