Loved it. At 80 with 56 years in photography, I think many beginners underestimate the value of giving high priority to the gear behind the camera - the expansive heart, the intense calm mental focus, the will to take pictures that will serve and delight. Beyond that, yes! As you say, you must get a camera that will feel great in your hands and be fun to shoot with. And that won't always be the most complicated, feature-packed camera. I would say flatly, that the Canon M50 is more fun than the M6, a Fuji X-E2 or X-E3 is more fun than an X-T30 or X-T3/4 - I'm not sure about Canon. A used full-frame EOS 6D for $4-500 on Ebay will last forever and deliver great image quality because of the wonderful sensor, and it's relatively simple, but then there's the expense of L lenses if you want the very best images. I'm using an EOS R6, and of course it's complex, but with decades of experience I know how to make it simple and use it that way. That's a wonderful thing about Canon's top gear, that it can get out of the way, and it does the basics so darn well. :) If I were gifted the R3, well, sure, I'd keep it, ho-ho.

The timing of this video could not be more perfect! I am going through the research phase and trying to weigh the must-haves versus the nice-to-haves. The most significant nice-to-have would be the funds available to purchase what I eventually decide upon. Luckily, I live in a town that has an actual family-owned camera shop and I plan on visiting them soon to accomplish your suggested hands-on research! Thanks for another insightful and well-made video!

Hi Sagi thanks for your video. I wound up purchasing the canon M50 and it's really all I needed. Not expensive and the video quality and auto focus system is really great.

Some mistakes we have no control over….I’ve spent a good amount on Canon “M” lenses. Looks like Canon is discontinuing the M line.

Hey Sagi, been a while since you've done camera content!! Good to be back and hear from you again. I watch many of your camera vids when I was shopping. GAS is real!! 🙂 Many of your videos back then were very helpful in my decision-making process. I would add to one of your points.... Be sure you're buying something you will actually use and enjoy. If you don't have fun with photography/videography no camera is worth it. I took a good year to decide because budget played a big role. Finally, I came across a great deal on a used X-T3 with a grip, lens and extra batteries. The camera was basically brand new, still in the box. Got it for less than the price of most bodies alone. Since I focus primarily on photography the X-T3 has been so much fun. Have a great week. Good seeing you again!

I'm still shooting amazing looking images on my Panasonic gh5ii X 10-25 f1.7....Low light performance is irrelevant if you don't shoot with inadequate lighting

Thanks for the video. I often quote your “buy it nice or buy it twice” to people. Very true. I made the mistake with a camera and a lens, not fully my fault, partly salesperson, as I wasn’t really sure I knew what I wanted out of my photography. And a laptop, thought a Chromebook would do. WRONG. Now corrected those to fit what I have established my needs to be. Happy now with what I have. The camera won’t change, but maybe another lens as I only have one, the Sony 100-400GM to go with my a7iv.😬

Perfectly SO many channels on YT that leads one to believe that specs are all that count. Sites too. Like DPReview. I quit that site years ago over that. Nothing but a spec troll farm.
