The Search for Alpha Trion | Transformers: Generation 1 | Season 2 | E32 | Hasbro Pulse
Realizing that the Decepticons have captured his long-lost love, Elita One, Optimus travels to Cybertron to rescue her. While traveling to Cybertron, Optimus is captured as well. Elita uses her special power to save him, but her special power drains her of all her life force. Optimus takes her to Alpha Trion, hoping that he could save her before it's too late.

This was one of my favourite episodes of season two. The female autobots were underused, underrated and under appreciated. They should have been in more episodes.

It's pretty good writing when you can bring in female characters without making them prizes to be rescued or emasculating the male characters. I mean if you took away the personal relationship angles here this could have easily been any other team of autobots. So bravo to the writers for avoiding the troupes

Something to think about, with Prime being out of commission for 4 million years, Elita-1 has continuously lead a faction of Autobots against a Decepticon force for far longer making her technically the more experienced leader.

The scene where he reactivated her is reminiscent of the actual procedure for starting a vehicle with a dead battery, which I'd like to point out, was what was wrong with her. It's not sex, it's called a jump start. Now the part about his design being the only one to properly interface with hers makes sense, too, because they're both very old. Now if you've ever tried connecting a new travel trailer to an old pickup truck, or vise versa, you'd be familiar with this: wiring designs evolve over time and sometimes it's really hard to find the right adapter - especially when your civilization has been at war for millions of years.

What bothered me the most is that Elita never reappeared ever again in the series, even in Season 3 which took place mostly on Cybertron. She was absent even when Optimus died in the movie.
Alpha Trion did reappeared later in S2 and in S3 and at the finale of the series.
