The Aerialbots are in trouble when they become trapped in the distant past of Cybertron via a time machine. There, they end up 9 million years in the past, where they befriend and save the life of a gentle robot named Orion Pax. Back in the present, the Autobots are battling the Decepticons who have reactivated a headless Guardian robot. But will the Aerialbots be able to return to their own time and stop Megatron from destroying the Autobots?

This origin basically makes Optimus Prime the robot version of Captain America. Not a bad way to go all things considered.

The looks on the faces of the Aerialbots when they saw that Orion Pax the young Autobot they became friends with would be destined to become Optimus Prime and that they had a hand in it by bringing him to the same Bot that helped build them a much younger Alpha Trion.

Yes, this episode is about the origin of Optimus Prime, but I like how this also highlighted Ratchet of being an 'ol grumpy doc bot. 😂

Hands down, one of my favorite episodes. It has great character development and growth for the Aerialbots and it explores the history of the franchise (which always left me wanting for more about the history of Cybertron...but was barely explored, unfortunately). People may scoff at shows produced to be "episodic commercials" in order to sell toys, but when some of these writers come up with episodes like this, that are better than modern-day cartoons' shows as a whole, well, one may understand the nostalgia old fans, like me, feel for this show as opposed to the stuff that comes out nowadays.

Out of all the Combiner Teams, the Aerialbots always came across as having the most focus and development for me. You can see a distinct dynamic between them here and in their debut eps.

Aerialbots took a complete 180 from loving the 'Cons strength to outright hating their very existence by the end of it for their atrocities, and their hatred is amplified as Superion.

16:44 - “I was wrong, my friends. I admired Megatron merely because he was powerful. I failed to see _HOW_ he used that power.” - Such a great line from Optimus and a powerful lesson he learned after Megatron almost killed him when he was Orion Pax.

Hands down one of the best G1 episodes. What made it great for me was not just the origin story of Optimus Prime but the fact that apart from the Aerialbots and Omega Supreme all the characters in the present (1985) were the original characters from the pilot. It almost felt like an early Season 1 episode late into Season 2. And the fact that it took place on Cybertron made it all that more awesome.

The only regrettable aspect is that John Stephenson did not voice Thundercracker for that one short line he had. Especially since we hardly have any dailogue at all from Thundercracker in later episodes.

This episose was a great lesson for any Transformers fan out there. This episode teaches us that Optimus wasn't always the great leader he is today. He was also once young, naive, & careless, before growing into the great powerful leader he is today.
