Eye opening... so glad you're speaking out about this

As much as we need to focus on treatment instead of housing, we also need to admit that it is worth paying public servants a living wage. The expectation that people somehow live on 20% of what people made 40 or 50 years ago just because it's the same number... that's contributing to the problems as much as anything. There's a lot people can go without, but you hit the point where the can't or don't want to and they start taking matters into their own hands.

This. I used to be a correctional officer and realized it wasn't for me. I saw too many neglected people... Broken hearts, lost souls... Tragic stories. I couldn't see myself as someone who was above them. They are people too... As disgusting crime is, I realized that it's a bi product of society neglecting these people. I didn't feel okay imprisoning people. I wanna help people not hurt them. Prison as a correctional officer broke my mental health so I left. Glad you're free bro. As a veteran it's hard to get a good paying job so I've had to make many compromises just to eat and pay rent. This country is tough to live in but I guess I love it enough to sacrifice my time and life doing what 10% of people do to keep you all safe from horrible people and protect y'all's oil 😄

I just did a little math and let’s just say if you were a prison guard in California of this year you would make over $96, 000 a year, I don’t know where you were in prison at or how long ago you were in prison but it seems better nowadays for them and obviously I’m not gonna look up every single state to do that but yeah.
