Another tip regardless of what material you're not is made of is that if you are fitting your nut on your guitar and are shaving down the height don't just rub the nut on sandpaper. Use something that you absolutely know is square and creates a 90° angle when placed on a flat surface. Then either tape or glue your sandpaper to that object. Just rubbing the nut on a piece of sandpaper is going to be highly inconsistent unless you have exactly the same amount of pressure on peanut while doing so. Using something that is either square or creates a perfect square is the much better bet. That's how I screwed up my very first bone nut that I bought and haven't made that mistake since then

What should i do if there's a gap in the place of the nut? Because my nut just broke and I tried to install a new nut but there was a gap
