Показать описание
We have learned that an algebraic expression is a mathematical statement that involves one or more variables and no equal symbol. An equation is a mathematical statement that two expressions are equal, and has an equal symbol. Equations may or may not contain variables. An equation is like a balanced scale. The expressions on both sides of an equation represent exactly the same value. A solution is any value for a variable that makes the equation true. An expression represents a single value. An equation represents a relationship between two values, using symbols for is, equals, or is equal to. We determine whether a given value is a solution of an equation for five examples.
