An insight into some different approaches to making pixel art... Which process do you use?

That's really interesting. I start with a silhouette myself with the difference being that I use shades of gray instead of just black

I never thought of using a silhouette as a starting point! Gonna have to try that out!

I usually start by drawing empty shapes and using a brush to free draw a general idea and then add detail to it. Works for me, especially if I am using a picture as a reference.
Get the ratios and distances right from the beginning 😊

I personally done all of these with my pixel art sometimes it feels more comfortable to do the Silhouettes sometimes it feels more comfortable to just go in and ball and sometimes it feels more comfortable to make the skeleton so if you don't feel comfortable with one of these just try it again some other time and see if it's different if the one that you liked last time isn't working out for you to everybody else here❤ though recently I've been really liking silhouettes making bone structure hasn't really been my thing and just putting it all together and balling that one is also really fun recently

Drawing it in 2d and shrinking it literally reminds me of that spongebob episode where he draws a full anatomically correct human faces and erases some parts to make a circle 🤣
