At this rate just make your cell phone your car key. Buy your car, get an access key from the dealer for the car to download it via your Appstore, then you dont have to carry a separate key because if you can afford this car, good chance you have a smart phone.

Why not make a phone app like other car makers. Now you need a phone+this huge clumsy key thing that also needs charging. This would have been cool 10-15 years ago (when the first ugly 7-series came out), not so much anymore.

The interface seems a bit laggy... A dollar car shouldn't have such issues. Also it's a bit unnecessary isn't it? Won't an app be a better idea? Cause the key is a bit too big.

Also what about charging? Here is a quote by BMW on key-recharging: "The key can be recharged inside the vehicle inductively (contact-free) by placing it in a special charging tray, or by using the micro USB port."

I'm sorry, but to me it's a desperate attempt by BMW to think outside the box and have something Mercedes doesn't have...

A big car key with a touchscreen that needs recharging every week is not a feature, it's an inconvenience...
