I like to stock up on cranberries when the store marks them down to get rid of them. I put the whole bag(s) inside a ziptop freezer bag and store them in the freezer. They're only available for a short time during the holidays and then I have them all through the year for Jell-O salads or sauce or even cranberry juice. Last year I think I got them for 25 cents a bag!

I made a similar “recipe” last Christmas. Unfortunately, I can’t find fresh cranberries this year. They all sold out at Thanksgiving and the stores didn’t replenish. I found that if you keep adding water, you can keep the pot going longer. I just turned it off at night, covered it, and started it again the next day. Kept it going 3 days. Here’s the recipe I used:

2 rosemary sprigs
2 oranges
1 tsp whole cloves
2 cinnamon sticks
2 cups fresh cranberries
Fresh ginger root
1 tsp vanilla
½ cup apple cider (plus more to add as it
evaporates)
1 ½ cups water (plus more to add as it evapor
