We did the same thing! Met in Vietnam during the war ( he a pilot, I a stewardess), dated long distance, married in 6 months, and celebrated 56 years when he died. It can be done. My husband and i got married after 7 months of dating as well. He told me he knew i was the one he wanted to eventually marry and start a family with 1 week into our relationship.
