I'm glad you made a video about Thanos in this series as in my opinion Thanos is not only the best MCU villain but one of the best villains ever.

At last, someone who finally understands. You're not supposed to believe Thanos's plan will work. You're supposed to believe that HE believes that it's the only way.

His true character arc is getting up from his chair. Beautiful storytelling.

Thanos killed Gamora's family and kidnapped her, and forced her to fight Nebula as a child, torturing Nebula when she lost. In the scene where he's torturing Nebula, he lists Gamora's positive qualities and claims credit for them, which suggests to me that his love for her is somewhat narcissistic. And his killing of her is not the same as Starlord trying to kill her or Wanda temporarily killing Vision, as they both do at their request. Thanos is a great villain, but Gamora is still more deserving of sympathy than he is.

I wish The Last Jedi was as well written and entertaining as this.

The Avengers: Creepy guy smiling at the camera
Guardians of the Galaxy: A person with dedication and will kill his followers for failing
Age of Ultron: A person who will do it himself
Infinity War: A person who wants to put his beliefs into practice to help benefit the universe
Endgame: Gets yeeted on by the future and Iron Man

It makes sense everyone decided to betray Thanos at the same time. Their mistake was not working together to defeat him.

They all at some point realized he was using all of them to make him stonger. For the good hearted characters working for him they knew that if they were ever going to go against him it would have to be before he got the stones. For the bad guys that betrayed him they thought that If the stones were so powerful that Thanos desperately wanted them they must be more powerful than Thanos. Logically why would you find the most powerful weapon and give it to someone already more powerful than you just so they can reward you? (in your mind) If you just keep the weapon you can defeat the more powerful individual and use the power yourself to get your reward on your own.

I have to say this is the best description of the MCU Thanos. Even though the movies don’t directly give us this depth you can see it/understand it. I think this is what separates MCU from DCCU and even Star Wars at this point. I wish the best for both so that we always have more good movies to watch. Definitely sharing this with friends and family. Thanks for an excellent breakdown.

Oh Thanos, killing people does not make them like you it just makes them dead.

Thanos has certainly become my #1 favorite MCU villain, and I truly believe that 10-20 years from now, he will be given a deserving place on Greatest Movie Villains lists among the likes of Darth Vader, Hannibal Lector, Colonel Kurtz, and The Joker. An overarching Big Bad antagonist who has depth, vulnerability, and even tragedy.

About the mind stone, the MCU actually released a book last year about Thanos and his journey from childhood to acquiring the mind stone. It’s a good read. It’s called Thanos: Titan Consumed and it fits in the the MCU rather than marvel comics so that’s all you need to be caught up on to understand it.

Marvel Studios changed Thanos from his comic counterpart so instead of being nihilistic he's a "Noble warrior" that only kills wen neccessary. Marvel making that character change is their excuse for thanos not just turning everyone he runs into to a pile of mincemeat, thus letting the story play out without killing alot of characters and letting Endgame happen.

Which also explains lady death not being apart of his MCU mythos, he doesnt get excited by death or killing he looks at it as mercy so it wouldnt be no need for her. Personally this change is the reason the movie is so great & was needed to adapt him on screen perfectly

There is a book about Thanos, his life as a child to an adult there it explains with great detail about his childhood, his dad, his mom, and how he even finds out about the stones.

As far as I know, Thanos *didn't* know Gamora lied about finding the soul stone until he captured Nebula and looked through her memories prior to the events of Infinity War. It was that event that set him off, as all the stones were finally within reach.
