I think any sleep-deprived solo sailor could easily identify with those philosophical ramblings mid-ocean. ;-) Godspeed as you proceed underway to 79.

Well, this was one of the more unusual but very entertaining solo sailing videos that I seen. But the one thing that really hit home, Christian, was your little speech about consciousness and it not being any different at 17 or 78. You see I’m 70 and there are many times that I feel no where near that age. The only thing that brings me back to “reality” is when I see myself in a mirror. You put it into words perfectly, that feeling of self that, at least to me and you, is somewhat ageless.

Man, I have a lot of respect and admiration for this man. To make these long voyages at 78 years old by himself is unbelievable. It takes a lot of experience and knowledge obviously, but I think most importantly, a huge pair of balls. Dude is a straight up badass!

As a mere 67 year-old I am impressed at your 11 year advantage in knowledge, experience and all the rest. When the topic of age arises I always think of my paternal Grandmother who was born in 1897. In 1997 we had a party to celebrate her century, and during the evening I asked her how it felt to be 100 years old. Her answer will stay with me for the rest of my life. She said,
"It's just like being 20 - but your knees don't work the same!"
She left us about a year later. 🙂

Christian is a real sailor, not a pseudo youtube celebrity pretending to sail. I love this guy. He is the real deal.

"You are who you are, and your only job is to be it." Inspiring words from a true bad ass.

Sir, your channel came on whilst I was chatting with a friend on messenger…..at first I thought what’s a silly old bugger doing single-handedly sailing a boat, but then I got in the groove, the music, the pot drums, the odes, philosophy, game night quizzes, the reflections and you know sir, I was thoroughly and utterly entertained and it was probably the most enjoyable hour and a bit I have had in a long time, single-handedly watching your adventures. Thank you so much from Aussie

As a 66 YO struggling with the issue of mortality and burning desire to do something “ big”, your video inspired me. Thank you.

I am now 40 and as an act of mid life crisis or just good old fashioned melancholy, i have decided to take some courses in sailing and get out there. I started watching your video and your quick refrain of contemplation about life and age and lustras is one of the most inspiring things. I showed it to my sister who has been aware of my recent interests and unironically told her that you are who I want to be when I grow up. Thank you, sincerely.

After watching hundreds of hours of solo sailing, this can't be beat! Thank you for the time and energy spent taking us on the ride.

After many months of watching and curating YT sailing videos, I have found my biggest hero! I'm 57 and you, Mr. Williams, have just proven that I can ignore any clock ticking thoughts. Super video. Thanks for posting!

These long philosophical esoteric videos of yours give a smile a mile wide! Thank you

Probably the most personal and honest sailing vid I ever seen. 🏆
This is just the way I love it. The rough parts, the lonesome parts, the going nuts parts, the sunny part with no wind and the fear of reaching your destination.

Despite being thoroughly marinated in YouTube sailing content, this is my favorite sailing video ever, bar none. Thank you, Christian. I laughed, I marveled, I even got something in my eye. This was brilliant, funny, entertaining, beautiful, and deeply moving.

Never trust a man (or woman) who's whole persona is built around 'knowing everything"....

But this guy, this Christian Williams guy,

he doesn't claim to know everything.... he just shares his (by the time of this video) 78 years of experience.

And it appears, that he knows everything. LOL

He seems to be an amazing man.

Living his best life.

His words are poetic.

His charm is old school.

His life has been and still is, amazing.

And he chose to share this part of it with us.

Thankyou Christian, you're wonderful.

We have a saying in Sweden that goes "den som väntar på något gott väntar aldrig för länge". He who waits for something good never waits too long is the meaning of the text. This wait was worth it!

You are an amazing man Christian. I’ve seen all of your crossings to Hawaii and have enjoyed them very much. I cannot believe you are 78. Wonderful. Keep going strong as you are.

The single best yachting video, I am eternally grateful for your generosity in presenting your Self, shooting all you could and then caring enough to piece it together.
