Why The Apple Watch Ultra Is So Expensive

The most affordable Apple Watch is the SE at $250, but the Apple Watch Ultra is one of Apple’s most expensive watches, at $800. So what exactly can this watch do that justifies the $550 price?

I’ve got an Apple Watch SE and it is perfect for me - can’t justify the extra cost for those other features I will more than likely not use. The only thing I am a little bit meh about is the battery life but it is usable

$800 for a smart watch is quite a lot, but the ultra does do a lot more and for much longer. Although, this shows the titanium and even stainless steel watches are overpriced.

I love my AWU. I work with trains and moving railcars around. So definitely prone to getting tossed around a few times, and my AWU doesn’t even have a scratch in the glass. After getting all the everyday gunk off of it, it looks brand new.

I think it just makes their "cheap" models look a good deal and not so many people are going to buy the ultra, they price it high so that they can make profit with a smaller userbase.

I have the Ultra and I am very happy regardless of the price. Because of all that it offers. I may not use everything but it better than buying one with less features, then I find out I need to buy another with more features. Thank you for sharing this comparison information. But this is beneficial to me because of it features I use. I’m still waiting on the heart and BP to be added! Then I’ll buy another one!

Comparing an Apple watch with a apple watch and calling it "Its good value comparing the money to the previous watches" makes no sense

In the long game, Apple is trying to replace the traditional watch, so their higher end models have added features at a higher cost, but I don’t know if it has translated over into a status symbol yet. I feel like we still attribute status to higher end traditional watches. Traditional watches got a head start by several centuries.

$800 might be a lot for a smart watch, but its not a lot for a regular watch. There are tons of mechanical watches in the 1k ( and 5k, and 10k) price points. Obviously those are different beasts, but there's more crossover than you'd imagine.

got the SE 2, great purchase. it does everything it needs, and it also should have 4 more years of software updates.

People will still buy the SE and the Series 8 for the smaller sizes that match their wrists and perhaps for the thinner and sleeker looks, while others will go all in with the ultra regardless of wrist size because of the added sport centric features, up to and including double the battery capacity.

See here is the thing. Although yes, it does have some amazing features, for the same money you can just get the latest phone along with an Se watch! It doesn’t really make sense.

While it is quite expensive, I think it is actually a quite good deal! If wanting an Apple Watch, for $400, on top of an extreme exercise watch, those two together would actually set you back a lot more than this one! Also, there is other smart watches, like this, for a lot more money, without iOS. So if you enjoy iOS, and are able to integrate this watch into your ecosystem, it is actually a great bang for the buck.
