Have you ever had to use homeowner's insurance to pay for plumbing? Let me know!

Furnace went out while on vacation last winter. One water supply pipe split and flooded downstairs. In this case, insurance paid for water damage repair PLUS plumbing pipe repair. However, if a pipe developed a leak due to bad solder joint or wear, then insurance would only pay for water damage and NOT the plumbing repair. In these cases, the cost of the plumbing repair was cheap compared to repairing the damages.

I watched your video as I have insurance problem. We have a water heater leak under the slab and the damage is crazy. It went to the master bathroom and the hallway and now need to replace my cabinets and floor but my insurance said we have a 2, 300 deductible and they can only pay up to 5k as that’s the cap of the insurance which I don’t get it. So they can’t pay the whole damages? Thank you.

Here in the Carolinas typically if we get a house that had the slab leak on the overflow we find that spot repairs usually domino effect in a short amount of time just do the age and wearing evenly over the years so we talk them into a repipe and it's a win-win every time insurance pays some homeowner pay some

As a USAA member, I am glad they have made an impression for other members. They have always done me right but it is good to hear it isn't a roll of the dice game of outcomes. Consistency when it comes to disasters is critical. Especially these days.

Be careful with USAA. I will look for anything to get out of paying.

Insurance is the legal protection racket

Insurance pays b "occurrences" . Makes no difference if it's in the same spot or the same pipe that leaked. If it was frozen, it's covered. If the supply pipe or discharge line broke without any outside influence, it's wear and tear. The plumbing isn't covered, but the resulting water damage would be.
