My autistic daughter was told by her kindergarten teacher that God didn't make her smart. It took years to put a dent in that trauma. She's an A-B student in her last year of information science-cyber security. Its still not gone. Its so easyvto damge a child's image of themselves.

This clip doesn't show that he used the exact same line with fake crying to get the girl to help him in the first place. She realizes it as he's telling everyone.

I had a 3rd grade teacher who was dying of cancer (Her name was Mrs. Kennedy). One day after school she pulled my mom aside and said "your daughter is creative, sweet, and really smart..but the public school system will destroy her as she gets older." She said, "She's detail oriented, and because she learns in steps not on a steady upward incline (meaning it took me an min, but once it clicked I did better than the rest of the class) like most kids, the teachers will think she's lazy or will give up before she grasps the material." She said, "Your daughter needs 1 teacher for the whole year who has gotten to know her; not a different teacher for each subject (which is what they do in middle school and highschool)."

She was right. In 5th and 6th grade, my mom (as a single parent) had to burn the midnight oil with me helping to understand what I was "taught" each day in school. I was still a straight A student, but I was exhausted trying to keep up each day. Then in 6th grade my history teacher called my mother in and said I was "too thorough in my answers." My mother asked for an example. And my teacher showed her a test where the 1st question said, "In 1 sentence explain what caused WW2." I wrote 3 paragraphs, because I couldn't think of 1 sentence that summarize what was important. My mother read my answer and said, she wrote a good summary and you can't really describe what started WW2 in one sentence. The teacher exploded, and said, "I don't have time to read 3 paragraphs on each answer from my students. I have 210 papers I have to grade after each assignment." My mother simply said, "I see."

The next year I was homeschooled.

The point is, after grade school, public schools aren't designed to focus on learning and knowledge. They're designed to produce repetitive short responses that prepare children for a world where they'll conform easily in the workplace and society. They don't want you to question, challenge, or deviate from statements of authority. They make children just intelligent enough and bland enough to obey orders blindly.

😂😂😂 it was funny AF because he had just said the same thing to the girl that convinced her to help him cheat in the first place. In the scene, she busted out laughing because she realized that's how he always got out of trouble. 😂😂😂

Although he was probably manipulating everyone (if I remember correctly)
It is true that the expection on students can and WILL have an effect on their development at school.
Nothing makes my blood boil more than a teacher always blaiming one student for everything and anything happening in a classroom… No student be the guilty one ALL the time, even a broken clock is right couple times a day.

What’s interesting is they’ve done psych experiments where they gave good grades to kids and a ton of positive reinforcement like telling them “you’re so smart” etc, . That reinforcement shaped them to be more successful in life. Long story short, believing in someone gives them the grounds to build their own successes on

I was diagnosed with autism in kindergarten. My mom argued like hell with this evaluation. She tried to prove them wrong by writing a long multiplication problem with fractions. I gave the answer out loud. The teacher chuckled and said that only proved more so that I was autistic. My mom moved me to a private Catholic school. My mom thought was protecting me from being perceived as dumb. I was diagnosed again at 25 while I was in grad school. I still struggle with sensory issues and meltdowns, but I can still hear my mom's "you're awesome, " song that she sang to me every day. She passed away when I was young. That song has been my confidence my whole life. It's important that someone hypes you up!

I used to be called a dumb b1tch by my brother and my Mother when I was a kid. I was a kid who would work hard. All subjects would be A’s and B’s some of them even A+. I had a job and I was looking after my 3 younger siblings whilst buying my own food and having to learn friendships young and how to manage money and I had no time to be a kid or to show emotion. This was all the way through highschool, early as 13 all the way to 18 (Australia). I still hear those words echo through my ears day and night

Edit: thank you so much for the comments everyone. I really appreciate it. My Mother and brothers relationship with me has been sorted now, but they understand some ways they have treated me have left scars on me. But at least now they are careful what they are saying about me now. Thank you so much for the support and I hope you all have an amazing life time because all of you are so beautiful

People don't realize it but sometimes having things the other way around also affects a kid. Being told in elementary school that I was a genius really inflated my ego. They told me I'd have to start learning study habits at some point but I didn't and it ended with my grades slowly declining as time went on. I wish I could blame it all on that but its obviously still my fault too but I wish someone really told me when I was younger how shortsighted I was being.

Thomas Edison was another step 3 kid. A teacher broke his ear drum before kicking him out of school. His Mother said the teachers were to dumb teach him. He believed her and it was true. He found the letter after she passed.

My youngest sister (now 16 and a junior in high school) is severely dyslexic. When she was in 3rd grade, she struggled to read on the same level as her classmates. They called my mother in for a meeting and said my sister needed help. The principal immediately disagreed and stated "maybe you just have to accept that Camryn isn't as smart as your other children." You see, Camryn is the youngest of 5, 3 of which had attended that same school. It didn't help that her twin brother was already reading well above his grade level. Still, to this day, Camryn is referred to by her peers and some teachers as "stupid" and "lacking dedication."

No, my sister is so intelligent. She processes things slower, but once she gets it, she's the best at it. She is so so skilled and creative, taking fashion and art classes. Winning competitions and even has her art displayed in the Mayor's office!

So proud of her and how far she's come, even if she does sometimes still read the letter d as the letter b. ❤

People don't fully understand what stuff does to a kid.
I used to draw and write A LOT. School didn't like what i wrote and drew. Punished me and i no longer draw and very rarely write anymore.

I firmly believe in following individual paths! Every child possesses unique strengths. Not everyone has to excel in Algebra, the Pythagorean theorem, or STEM subjects. Teaching requires both passion and compassion! Encourage your students to pursue what they love most. One of the greatest aspects of this country is that it offers opportunities for all. #Inclusion

The fact that those ppl told that to MIDDLE SCHOOLERS. That's the very first most vulnerable and fragile part of someone's life. It's like they pre established failure and it irks me.

That look of disappointment, Shock and disgust on her face when she hears him telling them the same fake sob story that got her to cheat for him is hilarious. 😂

One time my father helped my younger brother understand a difficult math problem. That problem was asked in a test and my brother solved it but when the test results were given the teacher gave my brother a 0 for that answer.

My brother went to the math teacher and asked him why he gave that particular answer a zero and the teacher replied smiling like a douche "cheating boy, cheating!"

My brother was really upset about this. Luckily, the 10 grade final exams are conducted and examined by the state so my brother became confident that he can clear the final exams.
