ZAGREB TO BUDAPEST 🇭🇺 Car rental tips + road trip | Vero and Justin (Hungary travel vlog video)

Watch in 4K ✧ In this March 2020 Hungary travel vlog, we drove from Zagreb to Budapest for only 28 euros ($45 CAD) during the March 2020 Hungary state of emergency.

We got a 3-day car rental from Hertz for 28 euros ($45 CAD) which is a weekend price that every traveller should take advantage of. Only four short hours later, we were in an awesome new country and city (we love Europe for that!). Watch out for those speed cameras on the highway, they are everywhere!! Use the Google Maps app to help you spot them. Because we had already booked our weekend getaway before COVID-19 was declared a pandemic, we decided to go anyways. Hungary is under a State of Emergency and we were able to cross the border with no issues, just more questions than usual about our previous travels. Once we arrived in Budapest, we learned an important travel lesson- arrive to your new destination with the local currency in hand! We found out that parking in downtown Buda(pest) isn’t that simple (for us lol). We ended up wasting time finding an ATM and getting change in order to secure our parking. Fun fact: Budapest has free weekend parking after 6pm Friday!

Hertz President’s Circle
For those of you interested, Justin figured out how to get a Hertz President’s Circle status (which is the top tier of their loyalty program) for free! It gets you perks like adding your spouse as an additional driver and car upgrades. If you hold an American Express Platinum (whether personal or business), then you’re eligible to sign up for free for the Emerald Club Executive Elite status. Once you get that, you can status match it Hertz. Just send them a screenshot of your Emerald status and a couple days later, they will have matched you with the Hertz President’s Circle status.
