After 30 hours playing the psvr2 i decided to try my quest2 again to compare. I was shocked how blatant the screen door is visible on the quest 2. In my memory the quest2 was sharper than psvr2 but it is not !! Psvr2 is a significant upgrade than the quest 2, they are in a different league

Had the Quest 2 since its launch, its been great. But since I got my PSVR2, it simply is just so much better.

I really like that you pointed out there is a filter over the screen to hide the screen door effect. You are the first I have heard to point it out.

It's hard to compare the Quest 2 running as a standalone headset vs PSVR2 basically being powered by something equal to a decent powered PC. A true comparison would be the Quest 2 running PCVR vs PSVR2.

Having said that, gaming wirelessly in VR is definitely a game changer vs being wired. Also, sad to hear PSVR2 suffers from SDE or bluriness trying to hide it. I thought maybe things improved with OLED screens in VR headsets. While the colors and contrast are great, SDE is something that I think ruins immersion in VR as well as making things blurry trying to hide it. It was the main reason I did not like the original Quest. The SDE just ruined it for me. Would take worse contrast and colors of an LCD screen in VR any day over SDE.

Psvr 2 is awesome. People just don't know how to set up the system to not be blurry for them. It works perfect for me.

I don’t why people are psvr2 is blurry! Jump into kayak vr, gt7 and call of the mountain and its jaw dropping and crisp! My kids have the quest 2 one even with the elite strap and cushioned faceplate and it is crisp sure but the graphics are flat and simple lighting is poor and ai on most games are compromised. As far as the sweet spot after a day to tweak my psvr2 it is spot on. I have never been able to sustain the sweet spot on quest 2 unfortunately. Quest wins for mobility sure and has done a lot for bringing vr to the mainstream consumers but psvr2 is definitely the future of vr at this point. Thanks for the video i always enjoy your content

The headset haptics were mind blowing in RE 8

As someone who has a quest2 and just got a psvr2, considering the entry cost I honestly expected way more. Maybe I got caught in the marketing hype, but I thought it'd be more of an upgrade. It's better, sure, but for what I payed on my quest2 before the price increase I don't think psvr2 is 2x better, and if I had to get a ps5 I definetly don't think it's more than 3x better. Gran Turismo 7 on VR with a wheel is incredible, but if I wasn't interested in that I'd say quest2 offers a better value.

The reason the screen is crisp on quest is because with vr head sets. Its so all about pixels per degree. NOT resolution. So even tho psvr’s resolution is higher on. It’s lower in pixel per degree

After only 1 day of having PSVR 2 I would say it is much better than my PCVR experience with Quest 2. One of the main points is the lack of faff, I spent more time fiddling with in game settings using PCVR. Running a RTX 2080 super I found to get the level of graphic fidelity I want the games would run badly, also many artefacts. In the end I went back to my Rift S for Driving Sims, but resolution if far less. I just plug in PSVR 2 and its perfect, no faff. The biggest down side of PSVR 2 is having to purchase games I already own on PCVR or Quest. But for example Star Wars galaxy edge is so much better on PSVR 2, and the Haptics are so immersive.

I have the PSVR2 and the Quest 2. Listen to Tyriel when he gives his take on the PSVR2. It is by far the best OLED experience that you can get for that price(plus high quality games) but the problem of blurriness still exists.

Basically, if you’re coming from a Quest 2, you’re probably going to feel as though the PSVR2 is a bit blurry. I definitely was underwhelmed by the resolution. I researched and tried to find out why it looks way blurrier and more screen door-ish than the quest.

I came to find out that it is because it is a pentile matrix design with the LEDs. Without getting too technical, PSVR2 needs need like at least 30-40% more pixels to match the clarity of Quest 2.

Nevertheless, I still LOVE the immersion that it brings vs the Q2. To be specific, the OLED makes everything seem alive and more immersive. It also has more vertical FOV. The fact dark looks “dark” and not gray.. the fact I can vividly see detailed shadows and sunlight (Horizon) is what keeps me immersed.

It’s hard to explain but just think of it this way:

PSVR2 = next-gen OLED lifelike VR in 720P

Quest 2 + PC streaming = next-gen lifelike VR in 1440p(2k) with grayish blacks

Luckily, I own both but it is a tie in my eyes one gives maximum immersion and one give maximum clarity + graphics. And when I say maximum “immersion”, I am trying to point out the fact it feels like you’re actually there in that VR world. With that being said, if you don’t have a PS5, I don’t recommend it. Just save up and buy a decent gaming PC setup.

PSVR2 is amazing but it should allow us to watch our 3D blu ray collection and it should allow the use if Bluetooth headphones. The black levels are stunning but the sweet spot would have been far better if it had pancake lenses.

4 to 5 hours is not enough battery time for you??? And please tell me how many AAA games that you can buy right now that will run on the Meta Quest 2 without a gaming PC.

This comparison felt very biased, first you said the controllers were better on quest 2 but give the point to playstation for adaptive triggers but failed to mention with that setting on the battery in the controllers drains way faster, the quest 2 has much better touch capacitors and overall feel and button positioning, then you went to audio and said the PSVR2 has better audio and even comparing with the headset you can buy for it when the Quest 2 has MUCH better audio solutions now that absoultely bury the PSVR2, then you mention games, the quest 2 has a massive library of games that the PSVR2 doesn't even have access to, its not always about the graphically fidelity, games like robo recall, RE4 VR, In death, a good majority of the games coming to PSVR2 were already released on Quest/PCVR. I'm all for comparison videos but don't favor one side over the other to be the "hype of the month" video.

I think being wireless vs wired should give a point to the Quest 2 in terms of immersive experience. And, not sure how you can score this so just mentioning it as you did was probably the way to go, but if you’ve got a gaming pc, that evens things up on the high end gaming front at least to some extent. And now with the Quest 3 coming out, and the apparently good quality pass through for AR experiences, that will add a new dimension to the comparison.

both of course, but I really hope the psvr2 brings some killer apps soon because quest 2 is more catered to small indie experiences and we dont really have those big blockbuster games in VR yet. I mean whatever happened to the quest GTA san andreas port?!

You can connect the quest 2 to a PC... Either with a cable or even WIRELESS. Not a fair comparison. The PSVR2 has better displays, eye tracking, possibly more stable game play, and better comfort out of the box. I'm pro competition and while your assessment wasn't entirely accurate, I'm glad the PSVR2 exists for competition sake to keep everyone in line and focus on innovating to entice the consumer.
