Dude thank you for this. I just switched to linux this month and have been slowly trying to ween myself off of the office suite and the lack of an email client that doesn't look hideous has been discouraging me. Wouldn't have found this without your vid.

It's the year 2021, Linux has been around for ages, and here we are still hunting for a decent email client.

I'll probably wait until I don't need a mail spring account. Looks promising.

Using Mailspring on a KDE based system requires you to use gnome keyrings which is quite frustrating otherwise a good mail client.

I am surprised many never knew much about this before. Its a very good thunderbird alternative.

Linux keeps getting better, I love it. I had used MailSpring a while back but switched back to Thunderbird, now that it is fully open source maybe I'll switch back but I got used to Thunderbird even though its pretty old fashion and ugly.

Mailspring accounts are now optional (When you run it for the first time there's a 'skip' option) which is great for the paranoid (which most Linux users probably are). Anyway thanks! I didn't know about this application or had forgotton about it. I thought I'd never find a mail app as good as Apple Mail but here it is! (Yes, Apple haters, I know Apple are the bad guys and I agree, especially with all the right-to-repair stuff going on, but you gotta admit, Finder and Mail are among the best software ever written)

There's a business model behind it so you have to pay for a "pro" version and and who knows whether they cut down the free version after a few months. They might even track the usage of Mailspring. And a logon whenever you use it is a no go.

Happy 300th ! Going to check out Mailspring again, been a few years. I wish Thunderbird would catch up to great looking programs like this.

Been using Mailspring since 2018. Don't like the other options. But a huge fan of this.

I used it for a long time, however I recently uninstalled it.
At random times, a process that eats all the ram would start running.
I think it is an Eletron related issue.

Mailspring: Putting all the spooky tracking crap in the hands of the everyday user.

this reminds me a lot of a client i used to use called Nylas, is this a fork of that ?

For the people wondering why you need an account. They need to collect all of your behavior like which link you clicked which contacts you contact, which mails you open to make those cool dashboard and data. except for all those tracking it looks quite nice though.

My only complaint with Mailspring is the cpu usage. I’ve posted the issue to their community page but there doesn’t seems to be a cause or known solution yet. In my case, one thread in the app is running 100%. It consistently sits at 12% usage regardless of activity. Otherwise, I’m really impressed.
